Thanks for the trip info – I’ll be renewing my China tourist visa in Bangkok in a week or so. My next trip to China may include Beijing but I really want to check out the Shanghai area.

Our latest interview is of Gloria Huwiler – actress who is originally from Zambia. If you have suggestions for others in the travel/lifestyle industries post your suggestions here.

    The interview is posted here:

    Dave

The Skytrain has been running to the center of Bangkok from the airport for several months now. – Just wanted to post this update.

November 27, 2010 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Shopping in Asia Pacific #31431

    Dave

Central World is mostly open after the problems earlier this summer – MBK in Bankok, Siam World, Central World – all the main shopping areas are in this part of Bangkok close to the Siam Skytrain stop

More info about shopping in Bangkok is here:
    http://www.davestravelcorner.com/articles/bangkok/Bangkok-Shopping.htm

There’s all the usual fashion and international lifestyle productions in Bangkok and to a lesser extent in other cities in Thailand – there are also nice Thai handicrafts (silk, wood, ceramics etc).

    Dave

Don’t have any suggestions for Paris stay – I found a reasonable place to stay at not far from the Eiffel Tower the last time I was in Paris – I used trains to get around between Belgium and Luxembourg – expensive but clean, modern and fairly fast – a cheaper way to get around is via RyanAir

    Dave

Yes and Vancouver has some excellent Chinese restaurants as well – especially the Dim Sum! I love the area around Whistler as well – not that far of a drive from the city.

    Dave

If you are planning 20 days that should be plenty of time to visit Hawaii – most people go for a week or less (but to one island). I’ve only been to 3 of the main islands so far – Maui and the big island were my favorite spots. I love the road to Hana and the area around Hana on Maui – its not that crowded and you can easily escape into nature.

There are a number of articles about Hawaii on my Journals page – just type in Hawaii in the search box on the left side and they will come up.

With 20 days, perhaps even consider a trip 4.5 hours more to California ๐Ÿ™‚ (esp since you will already have your USA visas).

Its been a few years since I’ve been to Cancun and Cozumel – I know Melia is a nice resort. Have you considered other areas in the Caribbean? I just returned from a fantastic time in Jamaica – and stayed at Secrets Resort, Wild Orchid in Montego Bay. If you are open to other places, that would be a nice place to check out ๐Ÿ™‚

As it turns out there is tons to do in Jamaica, especially outdoors!

July 26, 2010 at 5:03 am in reply to: Charter flights London-Miami #31444

    Dave

Hi – I think a Charter would be quite a bit more than a commercial flight – I list 2 pages of various charter companies here:

    http://www.davestravelcorner.com/links/index.php?action=displaycat&catid=634

I find the most important factor in price is the day you fly – so if your schedule is somewhat flexible price out multiple days.

    Regards,

    Dave
