Museo de Oro Costa Rica – The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum is located underground in downtown San Jose Costa Rica. If you only visit one museum in Costa Rica this is the museum to visit. Thousands of pre-Columbian hand made gold artifacts totaling over 20,000 troy ounces fill the tastefully designed & lighted viewing rooms. This collection started in the 1950’s when the Central Bank of Costa Rica started collecting artifacts and other antiquities.

Many of these items from this original collection are now displayed within the museum. The main collection is located behind some incredibly large bank vault doors. These gold object are artfully and masterfully crafted. Be sure to also view the 1lb + gold nuggets on display! For more information visit the official museum website which is available in both Spanish and English.
