Vines of Mendoza – May 2008

May 1, 2008 by DaveLeave a Comment

Arguably the centerpiece of the Vines of Mendoza is the resort and spa, a community built around 21 villas ranging from 1,000 to 2,700 square feet. Surrounded by vineyards and situated along the shoreline of a small body of water, the views from the villas are always spectacular especially of the snow capped Andes and during sunrise and sunset. Each villa is located within a short walking distance of the lobby, restaurant and gorgeous pool (with … [Read more...]

Denali National Park – April 2008

April 1, 2008 by DaveLeave a Comment

Denali National Park is located between Fairbanks and Anchorage and is home to the mega attraction, Mt. McKinley - North America's tallest mountain at 20,320 feet. Unfortunately McKinley is only seen about 25% of the time as this mountain creates its own weather and which means it and most of the park are covered in clouds the majority of the time. Come prepared to expect any type of weather anytime of year. But if you luck out and visit on a … [Read more...]

Siam de los Andes Huaraz Peru Thai Restaurant is one of the best Thai restaurants in all of South America. In fact it is one of the best Thai restaurants that we've tried outside of Thailand and that is saying a lot as we have tried many. Siam de los Andes is run by the Thai climber Naresuan and this restaurant is very popular with climbers. It is located on the corner of Gamarra & Morales at Av Agustin Gamarra N 560. Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) – February 2008

February 1, 2008 by DaveLeave a Comment

Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) - The Mangosteen is simply called the Queen of the fruit and you will know why when you taste it. We have sampled the Mangosteen's subtle sweet flavors worldwide especially in the tropical countries of SE Asia where when in season it is as common as oranges and bananas are in the West. Unfortunately it is still little known in the West despite the incredible marketing of the Mangosteen juice. It is not allowed … [Read more...]

Varanasi, India – January 2008

January 1, 2008 by DaveLeave a Comment

Varanasi India is one of the Hindu's most holiest cities and is located on the banks of the great Ganges River. This can be a chaotic city at times from the cows blocking the narrow streets, to hundreds of bicycle rickshaw drivers all jostling to get by. This is the only place we've ever seen naked people sitting in the street totally being ignored by passer bys. Bathing and cremation "ghats" are located along the river - essentially these … [Read more...]

Philippines Tourism – December 2007

December 1, 2007 by Dave2 Comments

Philippines Tourism - The Philippines are one of the most under-rated Island nations in the world. They take a little more work to get to because of their location and as a result compared to mainland SE Asia there are far fewer tourists who visit the Philippines. How can you go wrong with over 7100+ islands and world class white sand beaches complimented by the clearest bluest water you've seen. In addition English is one of the languages … [Read more...]

November 1, 2007 by DaveLeave a Comment

Macleod Ganj Northern India - Macleod Ganj is located in the Himachal Pradesh state of Northern India at the base of the Indian Himalayas. This is truly an International back packer haven as people from all over the world come here. The Dali Lami lives here in exile from Tibet and there is a real Tibetan feel to this town. But the one thing that truly dominates Macleod Ganj are the massive towering Himalayas. From the town streets you have to … [Read more...]

Koala Sanctuary, Brisbane Australia – September 2007

September 1, 2007 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the world's first and largest Koala sanctuary (founded 1927). Located only 20 minutes from Brisbane, it is a short drive, or you can easily take one of the buses which stops right in front. There are many other animals here but the focus is on the Koalas. You can even have your picture taken with one of the cuddly animals. Note some of the celebrity photos on display with the animals. Another highlight is the … [Read more...]

Ananda Spa, Northern India – August 2007

August 1, 2007 by Dave2 Comments

The Ananda Spa located in the Himalayan Foothills of northern India is a world-class Destination Spa - often said to be one of the best spa's in the world. Looking for some high-class pampering at expensive prices? This is the spa for you. Ananda is located about 260 KM's north of bustling New Delhi in the less smoggy foothills of the Himalayas - and once you arrive it is worlds apart from that chaotic city.
