Cafe des Artistes Luxembourg City is one of those cool nostalgic places you sort of stumble into out of the blue. In our case we stumbled into it with a friend, at night…out of the dark. Its a small piano bar located in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. This is one of those intimate and romantic places that appeals to groups of all ages. It is not large, merely two rooms with a small bar. The drink of choice here is most definitely beer. This is the type of café that makes you want to talk about life and philosophy, well perhaps after you’ve had several beers under your belt.
The “piano man” plays song after song; smoke used to wind its way up to the ceiling however as of September 2010 smoking is no longer allowed in indoor locations within Luxembourg. The ceiling is covered with posters from various European musical events and musicians. Cafe des Artistes is located just above the Grund (the historical central quarter) in a quaint part of Luxembourg. The Cafe has been here since 1968, which is far newer than Luxembourg City’s oldest bar which is nearby – however the Cafes des Artistes has all the charm!
