The Mississippi Gulf Coast is a vacation destination that is perfect for anyone looking to travel alone, with a group of adults or a family vacation. There are literally hundreds of things to do that will ensure that everyone who stops by is satisfied to the fullest. Mississippi is full of luxurious hotels, beautiful scenery, historic landmarks, world class museums and professional golf courses.

The Beaches:
Mississippi is home to some of the most unique beaches in the United States. The water, although clean has a brown pigment due to dilution of water found on the Mexican Gulf Coast. There is a vibrant marine life and the Gulf Coast beaches are known to produce some of the world’s best shellfish, crawfish and high quality of trout, flounder and shark meat. These beaches are perfect for anyone looking for a fishing vacation or even competing in fishing competitions. The climate is beautiful year round with an average temperature of 65 degrees year round. It snows about one and a half inches every year with winters that average 45 degrees and summers that average 81 degrees. As you get closer to the Gulf of Mexico it isn’t uncommon to encounter tropical weather. Activities include kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, and even going on a cruise. Hotels and beach houses on the coast overlook the water and provide a great escape for anyone looking to rejuvenate their senses.

The Resorts:
The Gulf Coast is a full of amazing casinos and resorts. The American Gaming Association considers this region to have one of the top casino markets in the United States. What’s great about them also is that there are 12 different resorts and hotels to choose from, each offer a one of a kind luxury and gaming experiences. Besides being a destination for those who want to play these resorts have 5 star hotel suites, spas, night clubs and live performances. Resorts include Beau Rivage, Boomtown, Golden Nugget, Grand, Hard Rock, Hollywood, Ip, Island View, and Silver Sipper to name a few.

Family:
Some of the nations’ best museums are located in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Elvis was born in here and sure enough one of the best places to visit is the Elvis Presley Museum located at his birthplace. Mississippi is also host to one of the biggest NASA Science centers in the US, The John C. Stennis Space Center. There is also a Center for Marine Education and Research created by the Institute for Marine and Mammal Studies in the Gulfport. Kids can ride with dolphins and interact with wildlife up close. Besides having some great museums Mississippi has some great historical landmarks commemorating the Civil War and early settlement in the United States.

Interesting, I would never of expected so much to be going on in Mississippi. It truly does sound like a pretty great place to visit for the sheer amount of things to do.

Yea, I always remember my time on a float two years ago in the Biloxi Mardi Gras parade – with thousands of screaming people, you hold the power, with the beads in hand!

Just to clarify, Elvis’s birthplace (Tupelo,MS) is NOT on the coast…it is over 300 miles to the north.
I grew up in Gulfport, MS and the coastal area of MS is indeed a charming and relaxing place.
