As a child, I always had the need to wander, to explore. As one of my favorite pastimes, I used to try to purposely get lost as a means of discovering someplace new.

During the year abroad, I had numerous life-changing experiences. I fulfilled my craze for instagramming bonny beaches and waterfalls. On top of flying half way across the world , I have worked as a camp counsellor in the USA. And travelled to Thailand, France, Poland, Spain, Estonia, Germany, England, Croatia and many more.

Welcome to Wanderlust & Life. A blog that aims to encourage ordinary people to travel and ignite your passion for seeing the world. We mainly focus on travel as a couple, but we also want to stand up for the ordinary traveller. So many blogs these days are centred around adventure travel. They make you feel like the only way to really see the world is to do it while jumping out of a plane or climbing the world’s tallest mountains. Which is all well and good but you can do ordinary things and still see the world.

So who are we? We are an American and Australian husband and wife who met over 10 years ago in a dingy hostel in Bruges, Belgium, while each traveling alone. We were both fresh out of college and both happened to be heading to Amsterdam within 2 days. So we decided to meet up again there. Little did we know that 6 years later we would end up living there together, married to each other!

In my personal life, I consume books, enjoying walking around and getting lost, enjoy the occasional cigar, a glass of scotch and spend time with my friends. I’m addicted to iced americano, chocolate and eating gluten-free. I am obsess with travel. I’m always planning trips to multiple destinations, reading travel blogs but until I win big or get tired of Vancouver.

I've always been a fan of travel and eco-tourism. It's the greatest way to learn, explore, and get outside of your own comfort zone. Forests, jungles, waterfalls, coral reefs and exotic wildlife are my favorite things to visit. I always try to leave a minimal footprint on our environment, and fully support conservation efforts and wildlife protection. The only thing you should take are photographs, and the only thing you should leave behind are footprints.

We started this blog to help encourage more people to travel - especially South Africans. With our passport and currency, travelling around the world has it's own unique set of challenges and opportunities. We can't just get onto a plane to Europe without going through a stringent visa process and finding cheap countries to visit is a whole other adventure.

Here I plan to write about travel nursing, how to get into travel nursing and my adventures on the road.
