I’m a freelance travel writer and photographer from Cape Town, South Africa. I’ve been travelling for a living for the last six years – for four of them I worked at Getaway magazine as a photojournalist and web editor before I went solo. My travel stories, which range from narratives and guides to photo essays and philosophical pieces, have been published in magazines and newspapers in South Africa, Dubai, India, Thailand, the UK and the USA.

A quest to see the world and to get more out of life

I am a travel enthusiast, who always has my camera slung around my neck. I have independently travelled to 27 countries across four continents and have many more on my bucket list. As Andre Gide put it (he was the 1947 Nobel Prize winner for literature, by the way): Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.

My name is Eartha, and I'm a travaholic. I recently decided to quit my job to travel the world, and this (re-imagined) website is going to be all about the "before, during and after" process of that whole endeavor, with bits and pieces of randomness in between. So read on, my friend! I may not have a barrel of money... But maybe I'm ragged and funny! As we travel along, singing a song, side by side.
