How to Plan Your Adventures in Georgia USA

November 2, 2024 by Joe KeepLeave a Comment

efore we begin, we should address the elephant in the room. There are two Georgias in the world, and both are beautiful and wonderful places to visit. There is a country called Georgia that straddles the border between Eastern Europe and West Asia. If you go there, you must try the wine.

However, this article is about exploring the state of Georgia in the USA. Georgia sits just above Florida and is one of the classic deep south states, along with all the trappings that you’d expect of the southern states including hot weather, great food, and fantastic music.

When To Go
The best time to visit Georgia depends entirely on what you plan on doing there. Georgia enjoys a full array of seasons and a few different climates. Northern Georgia is cooler than the south, and features mountains and forests.

Springtime is festival time and a fantastic time to visit for music lovers. Georgia is home to some of history’s musical greats, including masters of jazz, blues, and soul music. You’ll also find some great country festivals if that’s more your style.

The summer months are hot and are an ideal time to check out the islands off the Atlantic coastline. Fall is very busy and stunning for hikers, and the temperature will have calmed down from summer.

Winter features cooler temperatures still and, if you’re in the mountains to the north, you might even see snow.

Packing for Georgia
As a southern US state, Georgia gets pretty hot. This means that it’s a good idea to think about the hot temperatures when packing, especially if you’re going in the summer. As well as cool clothes, you should consider sun protection and bug sprays to keep yourself safe from mosquitos.

Make sure to check the weather forecast before you go. Georgia doesn’t often get as extreme weather as Florida to the south, but it’s still a good idea to check for storms. You will almost certainly get rained on in Georgia, so bring a raincoat.

Where to Stay
There’s so much to do in Georgia, including exploring some of its natural wonders as well as the history and culture of the state. If you have a lot of time in Georgia and want to explore it as much as possible, it might be a good idea to stay in Atlanta itself.

The capital city of Georgia features a lot of museums and places of interest. It sits near the north-western borders, so it’s a great place to stay if you want to explore the mountains. You can get 2 bedroom suites in Atlanta that are perfect for the whole family.

As the capital of Georgia, Atlanta has some great transport links to other states and other parts of Georgia. However, if you did want to stay near the beaches to the east or the warmer southern parts of the country, consider finding a place to stay in Savannah or another city.

It’s definitely worth trying to get the most out of Georgia while you’re there, especially the food.
