Top 6 Lima Restaurants and Cafes You Have to Visit

November 24, 2018 by Jane KLeave a Comment

If you love delicious food, you are sure to enjoy your visit to Lima. The capital of Peru has a lot to offer to your taste buds. Cafes and restaurants are versatile and many of them are affordable. You definitely should try local cuisine as its spicy essence is a perfect reflection of the fiery and passionate nature of the country’s people.

Top 6 Cafes and Restaurants to Visit in Lima, Peru

1. El Chitino
El Chitino is a place which proves that fast food can be amazing. This place is cheap and located in the very bustling heart of Lima. The traditional chicharrones, jamonas, sanguches, and a variety of other delicious and filling treats will satiate your hunger. Drop by this place when you are in a hurry to see more of the city.

This place has over 50 years of history and it’s usually very busy. But El Chinito is now opening new branches across the city, so it’ll be easier to enjoy their fantastic sandwiches.

2. Museo Larco Café/Restaurant
You have to visit Museo Larco Café/Restaurant when you visit the museum itself. The view is spectacular and the atmosphere and beauty of the place will charm you. This is one of the places you should discover when taking walking tours in Lima. The site has a major historical and cultural value.

The restaurant offers both European and Peruvian cuisine. Every dish looks like it deserves to be featured in foodie magazines. And there is hardly a better place for a romantic dinner in the whole of Lima.

3. Central
Central is among the expensive restaurants, but it’s a must-visit place if you are looking for unforgettable experiences. In fact, this restaurant is considered one of the best in Latin America and it’s pretty high up in the world ratings as well. Therefore, a visit here is money well-spent as you won’t get such a gastronomic experience anywhere else.

Dining at Central is a joy and it doesn’t matter what your tastes are. The menu is versatile, so you’ll definitely find something perfect for you. Many of the recipes are reimagining traditional Peruvian dishes with new flavors. The restaurant gets its supplies from organic eco farms and sustainable fisheries.

4. Hanzo
Hanzo belongs to a Japanese-Peruvian chef, which means the food you’ll enjoy here is truly unique. The menu may look like something you’ll see at an average Japanese restaurant, with sushi the most prominent section. However, the actual flavors you’ll enjoy in Hanzo are nothing like you would expect.

Start with the restaurant’s specials and signature dishes to make this visit truly unforgettable. Steamed fish is a must-try.

5. Cosme
Cosme is where you go to enjoy pisco sour, delicious meat buns, and a futuristic design that looks like is fits modern Tokyo more than Lima. This place presents a different side of Lima, which you will definitely enjoy.

Come here to relax over cocktails and to people-watch as the crowd in Cosme is as colorful as the place itself.

6. Anticuchos Grimanesa
Anticuchos Grimanesa isn’t a restaurant or even a proper café. The shop is half a step over a street snack stand, but it’s also a place that you definitely have to visit. This is where you can find the best kebab in Lima. And while kebab isn’t an original Peruvian dish, this particular kind is unique due to the mix of herbs and spices. And it’s grilled to perfection.

Be prepared to battle a crowd, especially during lunch hours, because this place is extremely popular. It’s also very affordable. This makes it a perfect spot to enjoy delicious meat if you travel to Lima on a budget.
