June 8, 2023 by DaveLeave a Comment

Pasadena, California (June 2023) - June in Pasadena is especially pretty, with live music and arts and cultural events popping up across the city's popular shopping, dining, cultural, and landmark areas. The enchanting rose gardens are in full bloom, pride events paint the town, and Visit Pasadena, the city's official tourism organization, celebrates pride with a citywide Pride campaign with the simple, yet powerful message that "All Are Welcome … [Read more...]

Isla Grande, Colombia – the Island of Total Tranquility

June 1, 2023 by Dave4 Comments

A friend and I discovered a sign indicating 'restaurant' near our eco lodge, a metal shack located behind the owners home. An elderly woman who we call grandmum lives there with her husband and her son. She is a wiry and energetic woman who is always happy to see us; for some reason, there are never any other guests. Sometimes her dog Lola comes running out; she recently suffered an injury, a nasty claw mark down her back resulting from a fight … [Read more...]

Southern Hospitality Awaits You in Mobile, Alabama

May 19, 2023 by Joannee TroverLeave a Comment

Mobile, Alabama has never been a city on my “to visit” list, but sometimes life presents you with an opportunity, so you just go with the flow and enjoy the ride. Such an opportunity presented itself when I recently flew from Savannah to Atlanta to Mobile. I had one specific goal: obtain my Global Entry status. Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon … [Read more...]

The CUBE Live, Manchester – Lots of fun and not just for squares!

April 29, 2023 by Amanda ChalmersLeave a Comment

The CUBE Live, Urban Playground, Manchester

We’ve all seen it on TV and now it’s our chance to take on The CUBE! I was excited to learn how the award-winning show had left the studio and landed at its first venue in Manchester. I was even more excited to be invited, along with my family, to be put through our paces. For the uninitiated, this high-octane gameshow invites contestants to step into the confines of a Perspex box to take on a series of mental and physical tasks. At The … [Read more...]

Gretchen Upshaw, Founder of Spell Caster Ghost Tours

April 8, 2023 by Teh Chin Liang1 Comment

Growing up, Gretchen Upshaw had a fascination with the paranormal. In 2014, she took a ghost tour on her trip to New Orleans and realized that being a ghost tour guide was her next course in life. When she went back home to Austin, she announced to her friends that she was going to leave her job as an Executive Director for a culinary school, move to New Orleans, and become a ghost tour guide, which she did about 6 months later. Two months … [Read more...]

Hideaway Island, Vanuatu – April 2023

April 1, 2023 by DaveLeave a Comment

Easy to access, only about 15 minutes by mini van from Port Vila this private island is a favorite place to dive or snorkel by locals and visitors. Mini vans may drop passengers off at the driveway to the island or pull in next to the ferry dock (the walk down the driveway from the road is a short one). The ferry operates 24 hours a day and takes about 4 minutes from the mainland to the dock on the island. Alternatively, if the tide is low, one … [Read more...]

Set me Free, Koh Tao Island, Thailand

April 1, 2023 by Dave3 Comments

One of Thailand's more beautiful islands is located about 1:15 minutes from the pier in Chumphon by water taxi. This is the shortest distance from the mainland although ferries also run from Surathani, further to the south. All tickets can be purchased online. This island offers an ideal balance between tourist infrastructure and natural beauty. Normally Koh Tao would be crowded with both Thai tourists as well those visiting primarily from … [Read more...]
