December 1, 2020 by Dave1 Comment

Norway has the last few years seen a growth in fascinating architecture and design. This has also happened with accommodation all over the country, where you now can sleep, eat, find exciting culture, history and participate in exciting adventures – or simply get away from it all and relax and contemplate, or practice the Norwegian concept of friluftsliv. Here you will find a list of some of the most recent additions. FLOKEHYTTENE The … [Read more...]

Winchcombe Farm in Warwickshire

September 20, 2020 by Samantha PriestleyLeave a Comment

September had promised to stay fine, and so we headed off again, this time to Warwickshire. I’ve been to Stratford-Upon-Avon before, but other than that I didn’t know this area at all, so a couple of days spent exploring felt like just what we needed. We were staying at Winchcombe Farm, and it became clear pretty soon after arriving that we might not be doing as much exploring as we’d thought. Winchcombe Farm had everything we needed and wanted, … [Read more...]

Pursuing Ski Resorts for both Winter and Summer Sports Activities

April 12, 2020 by DaveLeave a Comment

My first introduction to ski resorts was with my father at a very young age - we would pack into the car and drive several hours to the ski slopes and spend our afternoons combing up and down the slopes for coins and jewelry. Initially it was just walking while carefully studying the ground beneath our feet. You would be surprised what people lost during the ski season - we found beer cans still cold sitting in the snow, capri sun drinks - and … [Read more...]

A Crazy Stop in La Paz, Boliva

February 1, 2020 by Dave10 Comments

Upon arriving in South America I entered a very familiar airport, Jorge Chavez International Airport. I lingered in Lima for a refreshing shower in the hotel directly across from the airport. Walked back to the departures terminal and tried to sleep for a few hours on the hard floor. Loud music playing at 130am followed by staff cleaning the floors. No sleep tonight. Boarded next flight. Arrived in Cuzco - exited the airport with just enough time … [Read more...]

Planning a Trip to Africa to see the Gorillas

January 16, 2020 by Dave15 Comments

I have been to Africa a number of times and always gravitate towards the sub-Saharan eastern part of the continent. One of the greatest thrills on the planet is to be on a big game safari in Africa. The wildlife is prolific at times from parts of Kenya down through South Africa but especially in the Serengeti - with herds of wildebeest, plenty of giraffe, elephants and other rarer sightings. But until now, a visit to see gorillas in the wild … [Read more...]

Costa Rica’s reputation as a prime destination for outdoor enthusiasts is well-deserved. While surfing may be the first thing that comes to mind when considering a trip to Costa Rica, one shouldn’t neglect the ample inland beauty. 30% of the land area in this small county is protected by national parks, wildlife refuges, and preserves.  As such, hiking experiences abound, with seemingly endless opportunities to take in the stunning scenery. … [Read more...]

Top 11 Things to Do in Montreal’s Golden Square Mile

June 6, 2019 by Steve MirskyLeave a Comment

The name of Montreal's Golden Square Mile or Le Mille Carré, a square mile of signature historic blocks at the heart of downtown at the foot of Mount Royal, traces its origins back to 1950s real estate developers promoting the area's prosperity. Today, "Golden" more aptly describes the stellar array of attractions available within such a small radius. In 1983, only 30% of the district's historic buildings survived the wrecking ball due to … [Read more...]
