Sailors Take Note

March 12, 2011 by DaveLeave a Comment

My brother John is again off on his round the world galavants. This time he's stationed in Puerto Vallarta Mexico helping get a 46 foot Beneteau sailboat ready to ship off sometime this month for the South Pacific. They are going to head south west from PV with their first stop at the amazing Marquesas (in the middle of nowhere). This small group of islands are among the most remote on the planet - with their nearest continental land fall being … [Read more...]

Koh Lipe, Thailand – December 2008

December 1, 2008 by Dave4 Comments

Koh Lipe Thailand - Koh Lipe is a small elongated island located in an archipelago just north of the Malaysian border. People originally came here because of its remoteness and incredible natural beauty much of which is contained within the blue green waters that surround these islands. Dhows located in the surf of the beach in front of Nungwi.Stone Town is full of old buildings including many that are in a state of severe decay. While in Stone Town be sure to visit the evening waterfront "fresh fish cookout." This event … [Read more...]

Santa Barbara, CA – Colleges

by Dave · Leave a Comment

MUSIC ACADEMY OF THE WEST is a prestigious music conservatory tucked away in the hills above the ocean just east of downtown Santa Barbara. Take Cabrillo Blvd to Channel Drive and turn off on Fairway Drive. There will be signs guiding you. Watch out for the one way streets. Not many tourists ever visit this academy (as it is a private campus). The campus is quite secluded and automatic gates are at the entrance and exit. Whenever we have … [Read more...]
