For a town of only approximately 200,000, this is truly the "biggest little city
in the world".
Reno
is located in the high desert East of the Sierra Nevada Mountains north and
slightly east of the great Lake Tahoe. Reno offers non stop gambling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Reno is
located at the cross roads of US 395 and US 80. Reno is nice because although you think
you are in a large town when you are in the downtown area, you are really only minutes to
the desert and outskirts of town. When you are downtown 10 minutes will take you from the
frantic activity of the gambling casinos to the more sedate activity in the desert.
A relaxing place located downtown is the Truckee River Walk
(as pictured above). There are several neat
fountains along this walk and when the weather is warm during the summer is
a perfect place to take a stroll or stop and read and watch passerby's.
Reno is a high desert town. Snow falls in the winter and temperatures are often below
freezing. Mid summer temperatures can be in the high 80's F or even 90's F. Overall Reno
has a fairly dry climate.
Reno is the 3rd largest city in the state behind Las Vegas and
Henderson. Depending on the season, within an hour you can be at
Pyramid Lake, high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, swimming in the
crystal clear very cold water of Lake Tahoe,
skiing black diamond rated slopes, catching
trophy size fish or in the middle of the seemingly empty high desert with no
one around.
