Date Taken: 12/20/99
Location: 19,000 feet up Kilimanjaro - glacier is clearly visible in
the crater.
Description: At the current rate, sadly, this glacier may
no longer be here. It is retreating a little bit each year as the climate
continues to warm up. In our lifetime the "snows of Kilamanjaro"
mentioned by E. Hemingway may cease to exist. |

Description: The poverty in this village was terrible. As
Dave stepped out of the jeep with crackers in hand, he was literally attacked
by many small kids who tore the crackers from him. In their haste to get
the food all the crackers smashed into bits and were lost on the ground.

Date Taken: 12/20/99
Location: The Serengeti
Description: Lone Zebara. There are parts of the Serengeti
where all of the sudden you will happen upon an entire herd of zebras.
This isn't that common but when it happens its so neat. Its hard to
imagine these animals living in the wild in their natural habitat, but
that is the way it is in this part of Africa. |
