Fredericton, New Brunswick (February, 2025) – Home to four designated dark sky preserves recognized by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, New Brunswick, Canada, offers an unparalleled after-dark escape for stargazers and beyond to experience the breathtaking beauty of night.

In 2025, visitors to this Atlantic Canadian province can embark on a variety of noctourism adventures from dark sky parties and illuminated paddleboarding on the Saint John River, to night kayaking at the famous Hopewell Rocks in the Bay of Fundy.

Cliff Valley Astronomy
As the only astrotourism consultant in Canada, Cliff Valley Astronomy hosts dark sky experiences across New Brunswick, allowing visitors to see the moon, planets, nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters.
During Star Parties, Cliff Valley Astronomy brings a high-powered telescope with advanced technology, allowing guests to view the night sky like expert astronomers. The operator also hosts events for larger celestial happenings, such as eclipses. During the partial sunrise eclipse on March 29, 2025, Saint Andrews will host an astrotourism event called Sky Experience II which includes a Community Star Party, Cosmic Pub Crawl, Costume Party and Dark Sky Conference. Saint Andrews will be one of the top destinations in the world to view the eclipse.

Night Kayaking with Baymount Outdoor Adventures
On this two-hour guided tour by Baymount Outdoor Adventures, travelers will explore the wonders of the night sky on kayak at Hopewell Rocks. This one-of-a-kind kayaking adventure begins at dusk, paddling through the iconic Flowerpot Rock formations as the Bay of Fundy transforms into a stargazer’s paradise. With the moon, stars, and planets lighting the journey, this celestial experience offers breathtaking views of the night sky. Each kayak is equipped with a headlamp and glow sticks, and guests are guided through the Bay by professional guides. Adult rates start at roughly $60 USD ($86.96 CAD plus tax).

Illuminated Paddleboarding with Wolastoq Adventures
Wolastoq Adventures, an indigenous owned company based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, offers the first-ever illuminated paddleboard and kayak experience in Atlantic Canada, allowing visitors to continue to have fun on the water long after the sun goes down. Fully equipped with color-changing LED lights and newly added waterproof Bluetooth speakers, the kayaks and paddleboards are also fully transparent, providing guests a clear view of the underwater scene. Rates begin at roughly $25 USD ($35 CAD) for a one-hour rental.

Akadi Lumina
New Brunswick’s rich Acadian history, dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, comes to life in Bouctouche with Akadi Lumina, an immersive night walk celebrating Acadian culture and heritage. Hosted in the Acadian village of Bouctouche at Le Pays de la Sagouine, this magical one mile illuminated pathway takes visitors on a journey through the forest after nightfall. Developed in collaboration with Acadian artists, Le Pays de la Sagouine, and the renowned Montreal-based Moment Factory, Akadi Lumina weaves together light, projections, special effects, sound, and original music to tell stories inspired by the region’s iconic landscapes and vibrant Acadian spirit. This is the 18th and newest Lumina Night Walk in the world.
