Visit Minsk, Belarus – December 2021

December 1, 2021 by DaveLeave a Comment

Off the beaten path for most visitors to Europe, the country is slowly opening up to tourism - with the waiving of a visa for a number of countries for short term visitors flying into and out of Minsk - which began in early 2017. The airport is not located within the city - rather it can take up to an hour to reach the city center. Refreshingly one doesn't find the crowds and tourist buses all pining to see the same historic sites as one would … [Read more...]

A Wine Focused Visit to France

November 1, 2021 by Dave3 Comments

One of the most memorable vineyards in all of my travels is the tiny vineyard at the Bordeaux Airport - because whenever I see this vineyard I know I'm within a short drive to some of the most coveted terroir on the planet. And in all my travels around the globe - its not like I've seen very many vineyards planted at airports! The few people on my flight scattered as soon as we landed; I took full advantage of a totally empty airport to … [Read more...]

Visit Charleston, South Carolina – November 2021

November 1, 2021 by DaveLeave a Comment

This historic city was founded in 1670 as Charles Town - moved to its present day location in 1680 and changed its name to its current spelling in 1783. Boasts a modern airport that is manageable in size - not intimating to travelers. The airport is located about a 30 minute drive away from the historic French Quarter - visitors can either take taxis, ride sharing services or use one of the often slow buses (takes up to an hour). The historic … [Read more...]

Lightweight, Data Backup Travel Items

October 11, 2021 by DaveLeave a Comment

The appropriately named Western Digital My Passport hard drive is ideally suited to those on the go. One axiom we have learned from several decades of travel is that one can never have enough backups. Both hard drive size and weight have improved dramatically over the years. Our first My Passport Drive was much larger and significantly heavier. This latest drive (comes in sizes of 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 5TB) is so small it will easily fit in one's … [Read more...]
