Taipei 101 – March 2017

March 1, 2017 by DaveLeave a Comment

Taipei 101 was completed in 2004 and was the world's tallest building for five years until that record was obliterated by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. From base to the spire on the top the Taipei 101 stand 1,671 feet (approximately 509 meters). Based on its location in the city, it dominates the skyline - towering above hundreds of 'short' buildings. February 1, 2017 by Dave2 Comments

This little piece of paradise is located merely about 25 minutes from near Phuket on a speed boat - you can also access the island from the other side - from the city of Krabi. For being located in between and fairly close to two popular urban areas - somehow this island has escaped the pull of developers and the crowds that are found on those other mainland destinations. The locals are extremely friendly and helpful, the pace of life is slow - … [Read more...]

Maho Beach, Sint Maarten – October 2016

October 1, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

This tiny sliver of sand is located at one end of the runways at Princess Juliana Airport. Considered on it's own it would be another fine example of Caribbean turquoise waters framed by smooth sand. But based on it's unique location to this airport, it has become somewhat legendary in the circles of plane spotters. And the reason for this is one can stand directly on the beach and look up in awe at jets passing extremely close overhead (often … [Read more...]
