Located only about 20 minutes by car from the moderately sized Los Cabos International Airport, San Jose de Cabo is a small town easily seen on foot. Known for its art and historical districts. The size of the town is just right – not to small, not to big. Its feel comes from its sun drenched streets, artisan shops, galleries, restaurants and bars.
Fortunately the town is completely separate from the resorts (the Zona Hotelera) which line the nearby beach. Those wanting a sophisticated boutique hotel in the historic district should consider Casa Natalia and its appealing restaurant, Mi Cocina. This establishment is owned and operated by Nathalie Buchler, originally from Luxembourg.
Outdoor lovers should also visit the Wildlife Estuary (a few minutes drive from town) or about a 15-20 minute walk from the historic district. A bird lovers destination, especially in the early morning. And the beach is much less crowded then the beach in front of the Zona Hotelera.
And a variety of ocean activities are always available regardless of the time of year. Whale watching season usually runs from December until April, fishing, jet skiing and cruising. One can find various tour operators offering these experiences in popular parts of town including the historic district and along parts of the Zona Hotelera.
