Im an American nomadic world traveler whos been traveling solo since 1998. Im passionate about traveling the world nomadically and then sharing it all with you.

We have loved to holiday and have travelled to some great places including Mexico, Hong Kong, Hawaii, USA ( yes, I know Hawaii is in the USA ) and lots of Europe, but the depressing part is returning home and having to get back to the daily grind.

Lateral Movements originally started in 2008 as Blogabout Europe. While studying travel writing at London’s Kingston University, I got a summer internship with Busabout Europe. Many of the posts from the Traveling UK & Europe category are from that experience.

A Legendary Travel Adventure Blog

My name is Nam, and I am a twenty-something who has had the privilege to travel a bit around the world. It’s a firm belief of mine that there is something worth seeing in every corner of the world, and my mission is to try and see and experience all of them with whatever time I have at the best value.

I've been traveling since just after I finished my degree; a month in Thailand soon turned into 2 years across Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Fiji, Indonesia, Iceland etc etc. The more I see the more I want to see. And at the moment I’ve got no reason to stop, no ties to the UK or to a permanent job. Over the years I've worked as a waitress, barmaid, telesales person, web content writer, painter, customer services representative, fruit picker, the list goes on but almost every job I’ve had has been temporary and low paid. You really don’t need to be rich to travel you just need to want it badly enough. So I've decided to give this whole blog thing a go, update you on my whereabouts, tell some stories and convince you that you can travel on a budget just as I’ve done.
