Megan's international travels

I’m Megan, and I currently live in Austin, TX. I work full-time, and try to travel as much as possible. Someday, I’d like to travel full-time or live abroad, but I have to get a few things in order before that day can happen.

I’ve been traveling longer than I have been able to spell my own name. I’ve lived in various places across the United States (although I refer to Virginia as home), in two places in Norway, and have finally settled in Frankfurt, Germany… a city in a country that I called home as a child. My story doesn’t start when I turned 18 and needed freedom so I decided to save and book a one-way ticket to the other side of the world.

I’m Meghan. I have a full time job teaching in Washington, DC. I am traveling every chance I get, to everywhere I can. The travel bug always bites and I’m always planning my next adventure.

Influenced by the diverse and multi-layered culture around the world, going on new adventures is one of a few things keeping my energy high each morning. I have been lucky to have visited wonderful places around the globe, 23 countries and counting. These memories stay with me long and by keeping them in a journal allows me to always find my way back home whenever I re-read these escapades. Today I publish them online with a new added purpose – to share my wandering stories and hoping that they would somehow inspire you to travel as well.

MeiMeiChu and the Travel Bug is a combination of my passion: travelling, writing, nature, life and everything in between. I travel often enough for people to often ask me where I’m headed next, and I’ve learnt so much from it.

I was born and raised on a small city island, Singapore, and moved to England at the age of 16. I am currently based in London and while I am still exploring this gorgeous cosmopolitan capital, I can never resist an adventure across the shores.

I started blogging in March 2012. I was 22 and on my way to Japan for a semester abroad in university. At first this was just a way for me to share what I was doing overseas with my friends and family back home, but I quickly developed a passion for talking to people, taking photos, writing, and then publishing it all here.
