5 Sports Events to Travel to in 2020

October 4, 2019 by Jonny WallLeave a Comment

Sports is a vehicle for people to travel the world. All across the globe, sports fans visit foreign countries and cities to witness live sporting events. Attending sporting events in far-flung locations means experiencing new cultures, cuisines, and people. In 2020, there are a number of big sports events on the docket and millions of people will travel the globe to witness these proceedings. The top competitions of 2020 will be followed by sports fans around the world and they can bet on all of the events when they take place.

No matter which sport you love, there is a major competition for everyone taking place in 2020. Here are 5 sports events to travel and witness in person.

2020 Summer Olympics – Tokyo, Japan
The 2020 Summer Olympics will start on Friday 24 July as thousands of international athletes descend on Tokyo. Over 11,000 athletes are expected to compete in a variety of games from cycling to swimming. According to this guide, many of the games will be available to wager on by fans watching at home.

Billions of dollars have been invested to upgrade and build sports stadiums and upgrade municipal infrastructure to host the games. The welcoming nature of the Japanese people and Tokyo’s amazing culture should make 2020 Summer Olympics a great even to attend.
UEFA Euro 2020– Various countries

The UEFA Euro football tournament is often said to be more difficult to win than the World Cup. The smaller number of teams and high-quality players make the Euro tournament strong and great for fans to watch.

The 2020 edition of the tournament will take place in multiple countries. Qualifying is currently being held and the 12 host nations have not been announced yet. However, fans will most likely get to travel to some of the top destinations in Europe including England, Italy, Germany, and Spain to watch top-level football.

ICC World T20
T20 cricket fans are gearing up for the next installment of the game’s World Cup tournament. The fast-paced version of cricket has made fans all over the globe and the 2020 tournament gives them the chance to see matches in sunny Australia.

Sixteen teams will compete Down Under and a total of 45 matches will take place. The ICC World T20 tournament will be the seventh edition of the event and the biggest to date in terms of fans and global recognition.

Ryder Cup 2020
The Ryder Cup tees off every two years and after its annual year off will reconvene in the autumn of 2020. The tournament pits the best golfers from the United States against the best of Europe in an exciting match-play competition.

The golf tournament gives fans something different to the usual golf season. Most tournaments are stroke play, which doesn’t offer the head to head intense feel of match play golf. In 2018, Europe won the Ryder Cup for the first time since 1993. Can they retain it in 2020?

Copa America 2020 – Argentina/Colombia
Football fans interested in traveling to South American can attend Copa America 2020. Although the tournament was just held last summer, organizers CONMEBOL are moving the tournament to be held in even years. This sees the event held once more in 2020.

Argentina and Colombia are the host nations and fans can see the best footballers from South America compete in the competition. Like the Euro 2020 tournament, the best of the best will be on display.
