5 Summer Traveling Must-Haves For Men

May 17, 2022 by Jazmin RobbinsLeave a Comment

With spring in season, summer is right around the corner, which means you’re planning all the ways to have a great trip, preferably somewhere that’s been on your must-see list for quite a while. While traveling comes with obvious things we can’t forget to pack like daily medications, passports, and phone chargers, traveling essentials change with the seasons. During the winter you’ll need boots and a heavy coat, during the spring a rain jacket, but what about summer essentials? Keep reading to make sure you have all the requirements you need to enjoy your summer vacation as much as possible.

Layering Pieces
Planes and trains can get cold, and even a road trip inside a car can fluctuate in temperature. Ensuring you are packing and wearing light layers during travel and for the destination is paramount to keeping you comfortable for the entire journey. Excellent layering pieces for summer travel are lightweight jackets like a windbreaker or zip-up hoodie. Having a couple of tank tops is never a bad idea to layer underneath button-ups, polos, and even t-shirts. Layers are essential no matter the climate of your destination or how you’re getting there.

Comfortable Sunglasses
While sunglasses are an easy item to lose or break during a vacation, you still need to bring at least one or two comfortable pairs. Maybe you already have a favorite pair of wayfarers, perhaps you prefer something sportier. No matter the style, make sure you don’t forget your shades for your vacation. Not only are sunglasses essential to protect your vision under the sun’s harsh rays, but they also provide a shield to protect the delicate skin around your eyes and stave off fine lines and wrinkles. And don’t stress too much if you accidentally scratch or break your lenses. You can purchase replacement lenses for your favorite pair, even high-end models such as the Oakley Batwolf or Ray-Ban Wayfarer!

Safe Footwear
Whether you’re young or young at heart, one of the best parts of getting away is all the fun you have exploring new cities and their nature. Ensure you have the appropriate footwear for all the activities you see yourself getting into. Hiking boots if you plan on hiking, water shoes if you’re going to a water park, and supportive sneakers if you’re going to be trekking through old cities. Not only do the right shoes keep you safe and comfortable, but they also help you enjoy the sightseeing and exploring without having to worry about back, foot pain, or fatigue too quickly.

Natural Textiles
During the summer, it’s usually hot in your hometown, but many of our vacations take us to destinations where it’s even warmer. By purchasing and packing shirts, pants, and coats in natural textiles, you’ll be much more comfortable than you would be in synthetic blends; from your t-shirts to your underwear, look for 100% cotton, linen, or silk. While linen and silk require a little more TLC when it comes to laundering them, they feel incredible and will last you much longer than their synthetic blend counterparts – not to mention they’re the sustainable choice.

Your Best Blues
Whether you’re a denim enthusiast or not, packing your favorite blue jeans is a must for men on vacation. All the walking and exploring is the perfect time to break in even the heaviest denim and give them the creases and fades you covet. Additionally, denim is not meant to wash after every wear; the longer you go between washing, the better. This makes blue jeans the perfect addition to your packing essentials list. Add to that, and jeans can be worn for virtually any occasion, from a casual outing to fine dining in the evening. Pack your jeans in a wash that goes with all the shirts you’ll bring along; a medium wash is best.

Packing for vacation should be the least of your worries as you’re preparing to go. People who regularly travel and go on vacation have been shown to be in better mental health and have a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Make sure that you have the most carefree getaway possible by using the items mentioned earlier as the starting point for what you’re going to bring.
Happy Trails!
