Croatia Travel Tips that will Help First-Time Vacationers

December 10, 2021 by Diane HuttonLeave a Comment

It is safe to say that Croatia is a rising star in Europe. The country is remarkable to say the least and it consists of over 1244 islands. You also have wild boars and even bears in the forests with more world-class vineyards than you can count. If you want to make sure that you hit the ground running when it comes to this very diverse nation, then you can find some top travel tips right here.

Be Picky
It’s so very important that you avoid the temptation to pack too much when you go to this country. If it is your first visit then you need to try and spend your time wisely. If you have a week then it is wise for you to split your time between the capital and the Adriatic coast. If you go for a longer trip then you may be able to go much further afield. Of course, if you want to reap the benefits of going on a trip to this amazing location then why not consider the idea of going on a bareboat charter in Croatia?

Don’t Visit Dubrovnik Alone
If you are a fan of Game of Thrones then you may be tempted to visit Dubrovnik. This is the pearl of the Adriatic but at the end of the day, you also have Split. This is the country’s second-biggest city and the city centre is also a UNESCO site. The Diocletian Palace is also one of the best places for you to visit if you want to have the best trip ever. If you go north then you have the Roman site of Zadar. You also have the Croatian city of Sibenik. These are very lively hubs and they are emerging destinations. The cafes there are filled with fewer tourists also, so if you want the best experience ever, then make sure that you don’t miss out on this location.

Wear Light Colours
If you look at late spring to even autumn, you will soon find that mosquitoes are a real nuisance. If possible, you need to go with a good repellent as this will stop your skin from reacting to any bites. Light colours are also very good. If you want to take things to that next level then you ideally need to avoid wearing any kind of fragrance. Tics are a much more pressing issue, as they can easily cause serious illness. If you want to work around this then you need to try and wear thick socks and you also need to cover your legs when you go hiking.

Get the Best Beds Possible
Spare beds are incredibly hard to come by if you go during summer and if you focus on the most popular islands. Booking ahead does make a lot of sense but if you do find that you get cut short then it is wise for you to look out for any sobe signs. These signs advertise rooms that are in local homes so that you can get the best bed possible.
