As a travel enthusiast and avid foodie, there’s nothing quite like the experience of immersing oneself in the rich tapestry of a region’s gastronomy. Recently, I had the pleasure of embarking on a culinary escapade through Spain with Epicure Society, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of extraordinary.
Epicure Society isn’t your typical food trip company. They don’t just showcase the popular dishes or tourist hotspots; instead, they delve deep into the heart and soul of a region, revealing its essence through its culinary destinations.
Our journey began in the picturesque region of Penedès, where we were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at a traditional cava cellar. Witnessing the meticulous process of Deguelle, without the freezing of bottle necks, was a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship that goes into producing this beloved Spanish sparkling wine. And what better way to savor it than with a delectable lunch prepared by a local chef, surrounded by vineyards and the majestic Montserrat mountain in the distance?
But the adventure didn’t end there. We ventured into the rugged terrain of Picos de Europa, as part of Asturias food tour where we hiked to a cave renowned for curating the finest Cabrales cheese in the world. Sampling cheeses of varying maturities, accompanied by artisanal cider, in the heart of nature was an experience unlike any other. And to top it off, a hearty serving of Fabada, lovingly prepared by a local grandma, offered a taste of authentic Asturian cuisine against the backdrop of stunning northern Spain vistas.
Epicure Society didn’t just stop at showcasing the culinary delights of specific regions; they curated immersive experiences across Spain. From Mallorca’s traditional pig slaughter ritual, with the promise of receiving homemade Sobrasada months later, to the gastronomic wonders of Galicia, Catalonia, Basque Country, and Cadiz, each destination offered a unique culinary perspective that left us craving more.
One of the highlights of our journey was the tour Barcelona. Unlike typical tourist-centric tours, this experience was a blend of gastronomy and culture. We explored bustling markets, sampled an array of Spanish cheeses and Iberian hams, and even met local artisans crafting exquisite ceramic pieces. And of course, no visit to Barcelona would be complete without indulging in tapas at hidden gems frequented by locals.
What sets Epicure Society apart is their commitment to delivering authentic and immersive experiences that go beyond the surface. And for those seeking bespoke incentives travels in Spain and events, their sister company, DMC Spain Society, offers tailored experiences that showcase the best of Spanish hospitality and culture in cities as Madrid or Barcelona.
As I reflect on my culinary odyssey with Epicure Society, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunity to discover Spain in a way that transcends mere sightseeing. It’s an adventure I’ll cherish forever, and one that has undoubtedly left me hungry for more.
