City Guide: How to spend time in Cape Town

November 6, 2016 by Ninette Min1 Comment

Attractions in Cape Town.

The city of Cape Town, also known as the Mother City, is located on the southern-most part of the African continent. It’s one of South Africa’s most popular holiday destinations because of its pristine blue flag beaches, iconic mountains, beautiful fynbos landscape and diverse culture. Cape Town, more specifically Cape Point, is the site where the two oceans meet – the cool Atlantic and the warm Pacific. Besides the Mother City’s 360 degree … [Read more...]

5 Things I’ve discovered while traveling in the UK

November 5, 2016 by Linda CLeave a Comment

I recently spent a few months in the UK, and I travelled around England, Ireland and Scotland. The United Kingdom is vastly different from America, and I suppose there were a few elements of culture shock along the way. I met many interesting locals and tourists along the way, through my journeys in the UK –and I had a lot of fun too. Reflected on the experience, I learned many valuable things about bot the world and myself. Here are 5 things I … [Read more...]

Giant’s Causeway – One of the Most Memorable Sights in All of Europe

November 4, 2016 by Jeremy BLeave a Comment

While Giant’s Causeway might not have the name recognition of the Louvre or Buckingham Palace, it nonetheless rivals and even surpasses these manmade destination spots in terms of sheer memorability. People who visit Giant’s Causeway have never before seen anything like this natural wonder. In fact, nothing like it exists anywhere else in the world. Northern Island may not be the world’s #1 natural wonder destination spot in general, but when it … [Read more...]

5 Practical Tips for Visiting Lisbon

November 4, 2016 by Jaime Scilingo Mazur4 Comments

It seems like U.S. tourists discovered Portugal in the last year.  No matter what social media platform you use, you probably saw an explosion of coverage for this majestic land. The capital city of Lisbon provides a great introduction to the country, with a manageable population of 600,000 people in the city proper.  Beautifully tiled buildings, rolling hills, and delicious custard tarts are on every corner. The people are warm and friendly, and … [Read more...]

The British Virgin Islands, a short Ferry Ride Away

November 3, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

I hopped on the ferry this morning from Charlotte Amalie in the US Virgin Islands and in an hour I was going through customs at Road Town in the British Virgin Islands on the lovely mountainous island of Tortola. Spotting a huge Celebrity Cruise ship at dock I thought Road Town would be overwhelmed with passengers but this was not the case. Road Town is the largest town on the entire island - the total population of Tortola is only about 24,000 … [Read more...]

The Delightful Mai Samui

November 2, 2016 by Anthony Jury3 Comments

The calmness of the sea and the towering palm trees full of coconuts alerts you to a paradise awaiting inside the Mai Samui Beach Resort and Spa. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a smile and an ice-cold drink. But you are distracted by what’s around you. The rooms tower above and border the swimming pools below. Your eyes are spoiled at the sight and you know from the beginning that your stay at Mai Samui will be a vacation that you’ll never … [Read more...]

Tangled Vines by Frances Dinkelspiel

November 1, 2016 by Dave2 Comments

'Do not buy this book'! It will change the way you look at the wine industry and will certainly make collectors of high end wines think twice about their purchases. Author Dinkelspiel has created a mesmerizing look at greed, deception and crime throughout California's storied wine history. Central to the story is Mark Anderson, a wine aficionado whose nefarious activities in the wine world culiminate when he sets fire in 2005 to a wine … [Read more...]

Stingray City – November 2016

November 1, 2016 by Dave1 Comment

Stingray City is one of the Cayman Island's most visited natural attractions and is certainly a very memorable highlight of a visit to the Grand Cayman. In 1951 Capt. Marvin Ebanks borrowed a sailboat and started making all day trips out to this part of the reef - taking tourists to visit the stingrays. He pioneered these trips (today a number of outfitters offers trips to Stingray City. While the Captain passed on at the ripe old age of 98 in … [Read more...]

Backpacking in Venezuela

October 31, 2016 by Stingy Nomads2 Comments

Waterfall in Jasper Canyon - Gran Sabana, Venezuela,

Venezuela must be one of the most unique countries I have ever been to. Since so few people travel here, most of what we heard, from its beauty to its dangerous reputation is a combination of myth and mystery. It is a country that has never been on my travel radar; Alya however has been talking about visiting the amazing Mount Roraima for a while. THE REPUTATION When we started to investigate we heard so much nonsense, it seemed like … [Read more...]

Northern Galicia Coast: Rinlo and Cathedral Beach

October 29, 2016 by Brooke Heron1 Comment

I ended up visiting Cathedral Beach in Galicia by chance. My boyfriend and I had planned a weekend in Galicia (we're currently living in Madrid short-term for his job, but he's from Galicia) and we decided to simply look for a casa rural (a rurally located Spanish B&B) that was a good price, and that was in a good location. Where, didn't matter all that much. I had wanted to explore Galicia long before I met my boyfriend so when we met, … [Read more...]
