A professional traveler looks back at her decades on the road

September 6, 2013 by Kim SavilleLeave a Comment

My first overseas trip was at the age of two months when Mum and I travelled by boat from Sydney with all our belongings to join Dad who was then working as an agricultural scientist in Papua New Guinea. For the next 18 years the family, eventually with three daughters, moved around the country and my mother remembers that, as a small child, this traumatized me – I hated change, hated moving and screamed every time I saw a suitcase. I … [Read more...]

Exploring the outskirts of Seattle

September 4, 2013 by Dave1 Comment

July and August are great months to visit Seattle. The weather is generally mild to warm and there usually isn't much rain (as one knows, Seattle has a reputation for rain much of the year). We took my friends car which he kindly let us use for a few days and headed out of town. Our goal was the Snoquamish Falls - a massive drop off of water that one can view from several viewpoints. Lovely. Except we were so tired from jet lag we ended up … [Read more...]

Find the Ideal Holiday to Suit your Favourite Climate

September 3, 2013 by John Rooney1 Comment

Unless you're a fan of wind and drizzle it is unlikely that a UK holiday can fulfil your dreams in terms of climate - but that doesn't necessarily mean that you are desperate to find the hottest and sunniest locations. As well as a veritable cornucopia of cultures to enjoy there is also a wide range of climates to experience but, depending on what sort of holiday you're looking for, where is the best place to go and when? Discover your … [Read more...]

Belgrade Serbia -September 2013

September 1, 2013 by Dave2 Comments

Belgrade is certainly worth visiting for a number of reasons. It can be a party town for some with its floating night clubs and other late night hangouts and for others its about the history. The city holds the world's largest Orthodox Church. Two other must see highlights include the very popular Knez Mihailova Street (lots of shops and very crowded in the summer) and the Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fort which offers a look back into Belgrade's … [Read more...]

September 1, 2013 by DaveLeave a Comment

When my friend invited me to make a speech to some of his investment clients at a location in downtown Seattle about some of my travel adventures I jumped at the opportunity. With the challenge of creating a speech for his "mixer" I came up with one titled, "The Power of Experiential Travel" - in summary highlighting a number of my interesting adventures from around the world and finishing with some lessons learned from all these … [Read more...]

Exploring Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

August 30, 2013 by Laura P.3 Comments

Maybe Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is called God’s Country because only a supernatural force could withstand the ferocious Feel-Em-No-See-Ems, extreme weather, potentially dangerous wildlife or the keen loneliness of the endless forest. Then again, anyone who lays eyes on this place can’t fail to feel something celestial is at work. From Tahquamenon Falls and the Porcupine Mountains to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and autumn colors … [Read more...]
