Coffeyville, Kansas – May 2025

May 1, 2025 by DaveLeave a Comment

Located in the far south east corner of Kansas (just across the Oklahoma state line), this tiny community of 10,000 is not on the itinerary of most travelers - in other words, visitors generally do not randomly pass through its city limits. Perhaps known as the site of the last two bank robberies attempted by the Dalton Gang (Coffeyville was their hometown). Visitors will want to stop in the quaint old historic part of town - (almost feels like … [Read more...]

Unveiling LA: Adventures in the City of Angels

January 1, 2025 by Dave2 Comments

The city was eerily ghost-town like, or at least as close as a major city like Los Angeles can be. Although it wasn't nearly as empty as when we had LA and other freeways to ourselves during March through June of 2020, when we took full advantage of shelter in place policies, no traffic and cheap gas to explore this great country. The second to last week of the year is always one of our favorite times to explore Los Angeles because there’s very … [Read more...]

Moments in Santa Fe de Antioquia, Colombia

June 1, 2024 by DaveLeave a Comment

An old man hunched over with a baseball cap and a small cloth pack hanging from his back, scoots in beside me on a small well worn bench. He quietly calls out to an old woman who has casually wandered over to us carrying a Styrofoam box perched on top of her shoulders . She places the coffee carefully in between the wooden slats on the park bench in between myself and the older gentleman. We sit here in silence, yet surrounded by music … [Read more...]

Getaway Trip, Sonesta Redondo Beach

May 1, 2023 by Dave4 Comments

Needing a break from wine work and with Los Angeles always a relaxing and therapeutic relatively short drive away (with no traffic), I scheduled a mid week getaway to Sonesta Redondo Beach. This beachside resort is within about a 20 minute drive from LAX. And for those wanting to enjoy Southern California's mild year-round coastal climate and its 'fit' lifestyle, the resort is conveniently located across from the Strand, a bike and pedestrian … [Read more...]
