Spring has Sprung in “Green” Mendocino County!

March 26, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA - (March 26, 2010) - Mendocino County comes alive during the spring season, when vineyards awaken with new leafy canopies, goats and sheep are hard at work grazing and tilling in the pastures, and the bright yellow patches of daffodils and wild purple iris dot the landscape. It's a great time for nature walks, bird and whale watching, kayaking along the Noyo River, and taking in the warm days & cool nights. Spring … [Read more...]

(November 23, 2009) -- We recently attended a screening of "Up in the Air" at Paramount Studios in Hollywood featuring George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a corporate downsizing expert whose "travel time" is threatened just as he nears his 10 millionth frequent flyer mile mark. Summer Festivals in London

July 5, 2009 by HostelBookersLeave a Comment

Britain has its fair share of summer festivals, from the legendary Glastonbury to the crazy dressing up at Bestival on the Isle of Wight. But sometime the festival experience isn't all it's cracked up to be, with unpredictable weather, mud-soaked fields, grubby toilets and overpriced food putting a dampener on camping in the countryside. Luckily there are just as many top festivals in London, from weekend-long dance parties to more relaxed … [Read more...]

Egypt Uncovered

May 20, 2009 by Acacia Adventure HolidaysLeave a Comment

A vast expanse of sand stretched out before me, the fine soft grains covered in abstract monoliths of all shapes and sizes. For a moment, I felt as though I had been transported onto the film set of a "Star Wars" movie. All I needed now was my son's light saber and you could call me Luke Skywalker. The rock-strewn landscape glittered like gold in the midday sun, the harsh rays bouncing off the twisted structures. Eager to get a birds eye view … [Read more...]

Eight Great Small Escapes

March 9, 2009 by Suzanne AaronsonLeave a Comment

Save time and airfare by driving or taking the train to a getaway near you ... Like most people, you're likely watching your wallet more carefully these days and a big trip may not be on your list for this year. But getting away doesn't need to be a big affair to an exotic locale. Sometimes the best trips are close to home, especially when they maximize your time off and minimize your impact on the environment; by choosing a leisurely car or … [Read more...]

On Location with Iconic Californian Movies

December 8, 2008 by HostelBookersLeave a Comment

Head to the Golden State and stand on the corner with Douglas, have a drink with Crowe and go to jail with Spacey. One of the great motivators of sightseeing in America is finding a little street downtown or a log cabin upstate where a great movie was once filmed. Having your picture taken at a setting that once lent itself to an iconic movie scene is something that you can keep forever! Here's a look at some of the locations from popular … [Read more...]
