The Evolution of Travel

December 22, 2018 by Dave12 Comments

Travel has changed so much in the past few years - during my latest trip abroad, this time to Myanmar, some of these changes were quite noticeable. Long gone are the days of Internet cafes where one would see travelers hunched over keypads staring at klutzy box like computer screens - often in the mornings or evenings after spending the day sightseeing. Today one is more likely to see one staring at a mobile phone - with travelers having … [Read more...]

Introduction to Havana

November 22, 2018 by Dave14 Comments

I learned that it takes a few days to warm to Cuba - but when you do, its alluring embrace grabs you with all it has and doesn't let go. The colorfully dressed person in front of me boarded the plane without any shoes and left the plane without any shoes. Never seen that before. Following a very quick wait in customs, I then caught a taxi to Havana for 30 CUC, the Cuban currency (the airport is about 30-45 minutes from the center of the city). … [Read more...]

Day Trip: Ten Hours In Austin, TX

September 22, 2018 by Steve TaylorLeave a Comment

It was 12:15 pm when my plane touched down at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.  A jet-lagged stranger in a strange place, I wondered what Austin, TX might have in store for me.  The answer, I soon found out, was a lot.  With an urge to obtain some aerial photos of the city, I searched for parks in and around the downtown area and drove my rental car to Zilker Metropolitan Park.  A simple park, with an open field, Zilker would do just fine … [Read more...]

Ways to Earn While Travelling

August 25, 2018 by Brian Jenkins1 Comment

Travelling is one of the single most enjoyable pastimes shared by people today. With the emergence of budget airlines as well as the effects of a competitive market, travelling to new, exotic places is within reach for a lot more people than before. However, the costs can still stack up, and sometimes a budget holiday to a cheap destination can get old if that’s all you can afford. The solution to this common problem is actually a rather simple … [Read more...]

Enjoying a Diversity of Experiences in Yangon, Myanmar

June 21, 2018 by Dave20 Comments

After landing at the modern airport in Yangon we quickly purchased a sim card with a local phone number. We were told that in the last few years the price of Internet and cell phones have dropped dramatically. One tour guide told us that in the last 10 years mobile phones have gone from costing more then $1000 to now being relatively affordable. Our taxi driver informed us that traffic in Yangon can be intense - horrific at times - traffic … [Read more...]

Top Five Most Useful Trip Preparations

April 19, 2018 by DaveLeave a Comment

While travels never go exactly according to plan (and perhaps that is part of why I travel), there are several important steps one can make prior to a trip to help ensure your trip is a smooth one. Insurance One of the most overlooked items when planning a trip is travel insurance. Sure it costs a bit to acquire prior to a trip but based on having peace of mind when traveling and the actual cost versus what might be incurred costs as a … [Read more...]

Jackson Hole’s Great American Solar Eclipse of 2017

2017 Solar Eclipse Viewers Having Fun During The Event

Ah, the beauty of Wyoming and the awesome splendor of a total solar eclipse -- what more could one ask for on a summer vacation? Last August, I finally checked these two long-standing items off my bucket list. From the time I was young, solar eclipses have captivated my imagination, and  I have been intrigued about Jackson Hole ever since I did some internet marketing work for a couple of hotels there several years ago. I just never seemed to … [Read more...]
