He also knows how to make that dream come true. "I remember being a curious kid looking out at the docks in Long Beach from behind the locked gates that led to the pier," he said. "I saw this montage of beautiful sails and gleaming boats and the vast expanse of the sea, and … [Read more...]
Napa Valley Mexican-American Vintners Association Tasting
The first ever tasting of the Napa Valley Mexican-American Vintners Association was held Saturday July 30, 2011 at Maldonado Vineyards in the far northern reaches of the Napa Valley. This was the best tasting we've attended so far this year in Napa. Very personalized, great wine - dignitaries came up from Los Angeles, a historic tasting. The association is fairly new (2010). It was formed after a number of vintners poured their wines in Mexico … [Read more...]
Burning (Wo)Man and the American Dream
It's as if I have a tailwind behind me ferrying me along as I move quickly - so very quickly along. I cannot stop; I feel as if the road is driving me rather than me driving the road. I feel possessed by a Spirit, whose name I do not know - yet a name just at the tip of my tongue. A spirit that drives me towards a familiar destination, but not so familiar as I recall. I have ridden this highway that stretches across this nation two times … [Read more...]
The origin of Spanish stereotypes

Curious about it, however, is that whether we condone them or not, we often use them as a point of orientation, when we don't know much … [Read more...]

We all have those moments in life, myself more frequently during the winter months, during which we just want to leave everything behind and run away or hide to clear our heads.
