Stowe’s Simple Surprises

March 22, 2014 by Leslie CarboneLeave a Comment

I pulled into the parking lot at the recently renovated Topnotch Resort and Spa and quickly ducked … [Read more...]

The Lost Girls

March 15, 2014 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Lost Girls by Jennifer Baggett, Holly C. Corbett and Amanda Pressner The odds that these three girls would all meet and then decide they would travel together for a year in 2006 (by the way, they were still friends at the end of the trip), all while busy building careers in New York - and then write a book about their adventures is slim to none! But this is exactly what Jennifer, Holly and Amanda accomplished with the release of this book … [Read more...]

5 Honolulu Highlights

March 13, 2014 by Catherine Sweeney1 Comment

"Duke Kahanamoku Beach at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Honolulu"

After several visits to Kauai, Maui, Molokai and the Big Island of Hawaii, I finally had a chance to visit Oahu, the most populated of the Hawaiian Islands and home to the state capital of Honolulu. My travel opportunity came with an invitation to Honolulu to attend the launch of the new Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard issued by Barclaycard. Although primarily a business trip, I got a wonderful taste of what Honolulu has to offer leisure … [Read more...]

A Day of Rain, Australian Outback

February 22, 2014 by Dave2 Comments

To one who was expecting desert like conditions, extreme dry temperatures and nothing but blue skies today was a rude awakening! We spent the night camping near the Glen Helen Gorge on the banks of the barely flowing Finke River. This River is among the oldest rivers in the world - dated at a whopping 65 million years - give or take a few million! We awoke to rain falling on our tents at 4am and not letting up for several hours. After several … [Read more...]

Camels to Sounds of Silence, Uluru Australia

February 8, 2014 by Dave2 Comments

Riding Camels in Australia? I thought present day camels were native to parts of the Middle East and parts of the Horn of Africa? In fact they are, but were brought to this part of the country in 1840 from the Canary Islands. Nine camels were originally brought over - all but one died en route and that one was eventually killed - but then more arrived. More than fifteen hundred camels were released into the wild many generations ago - and … [Read more...]
