Lahore

February 5, 2006 by Usman IsmailLeave a Comment

If you take a fact file about Pakistan you will see the Islamabad is the official capital with its planned streets and neatly organized suburbs. You will also find Karachi mentioned as the economical and industrial capital with its huge twelve million people, bustling streets and polluted atmosphere. A city you may not find mentioned in that book is Lahore the cultural and spiritual heart of Pakistan. This ancient city on the bank of river Ravi … [Read more...]

Wat Thai Los Angeles - Every Sunday at Wat Thai there is excellent Thai food cooked by the outdoor vendors. February 1, 2005 by DaveLeave a Comment

Salzburg is located on the banks next to the beautiful Salzach River in Austria - within a very short distance of the German border. This charming town is located about 3 hours drive from Vienna or a 2 hour drive from Munich. The appropriately named, Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport is only about 20 minutes from the center of town and serves select, mostly European destinations. The city is rich in history but perhaps most famous as … [Read more...]

Istanbul, Turkey – Must See Attractions

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Some of the primary historical attractions are only open on certain days of the week. Many are open from Tuesday through Sunday and are closed Mondays. Dave has visited the following sites within Istanbul. Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii) was constructed in the early 1600's. Admission is free but donations are accepted. Because this is such a heavily visited tourist destination, tourists are only allowed to enter from one of the side doors … [Read more...]

There are numerous hotels in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), ranging in price from around $15/night all the way up to the 4 and 5 star hotels well above $100/night. Many hotels will include breakfast for free. Most will keep your baggage for a little while if you plan on returning or take side trips. Saigon, Vietnam – Restaurants

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Overall, compared to Thai food Vietnamese food is much less spicy and more bland. You can choose from a variety of soups (called Pho's), seafood dishes, vegetable dishes, rolls, and rice dishes. You can have an excellent dinner for around $10 - you can however, eat much cheaper than this if you like. There are also some excellent French restaurants in Saigon as well as coffee shops. The following are a few restaurants that Dave frequented … [Read more...]

Arequipa, Peru – Restaurants

by Dave · Leave a Comment

We have eaten at many restaurants in Arequipa and never had a problem with the food in regards to food sickness. With that said, be sure the food is well cooked and avoid unwashed fruit or uncooked vegetables, such as lettuce. In basic restaurants we refrained from ordering fresh salads even though we were very tempted. We never had a problem eating fresh fruit and vegetables in the higher end restaurants. Some local dishes to consider trying … [Read more...]

Las Vegas, NV – Attractions

The Eiffel Tower is well worth a visit to the top. This is an exact 1/2 scale replica of the real Gustav's Eiffel Tower located in Paris, France. If you have never been to the real Eiffel Tower in France this is a pretty good replica. You buy your tickets on the first floor of the Paris Hotel, Las Vegas (owned by Caesars). Note the pretty sky on the ceiling when you walk into this hotel. The twilight of a summer Paris evening never changes in … [Read more...]

Las Vegas, NV – Night Clubs

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Hakkasan is located in the middle of the MGM Grand, one of the largest casinos in the world. NOTE: Studio 54 has now closed, essentially replaced by this latest casino hotspot, Hakkasan (a more intriguing, sensual and mysterious sounding name then Studio 54 ever was). Hakkasan is close to the pinnacle of Vegas nightclubs and party spots in North America, if not the World. First of all, to enter Hakkasan you have to pass through the largest … [Read more...]
