6 Reasons to Take A Food Tour in Alsace with L’Alsaciette

April 25, 2018 by Jaime Scilingo Mazur4 Comments

Alsace-Food-Tours-Alsaciette

I visited the Alsace region of France for a quick weekend over the American Thanksgiving holiday.  I flew into Geneva, Switzerland and then took a train to Basel before transferring to a local train to Colmar, France.  On quick trips such as this, I avoid car rentals.  I prefer to take advantage of public transportation and the deluge of culture that accompanies it.  On this particular trip, I was really looking forward to trying the food and … [Read more...]

Songkhran, Thai New Years

April 20, 2018 by Dave14 Comments

Historically April is the hottest month of the year in Thailand. Presumably the warmest days are mid month - conveniently this is when Songkran is held every year. For several days one of the world's biggest waterfights takes place throughout the country. Our Songkran began slowly - joining a colorful procession of people parading through a temple grounds. Hawaiian style colorful shirts are the norm during the days of Songkran - the brighter the … [Read more...]

Top Water Activities to Enjoy and Items to Bring on Your Costa Rica Vacation

April 13, 2018 by Derrick M1 Comment

Many of us are naturally drawn to the water. After all, there's nothing quite like the sense of exhilaration one feels as their boat sails over the waves, or experiencing the sense of peace, stillness, and tranquility that comes from being alone in the sea. Freshwater adventures can also be fantastic, which is why making landfall once in a while during your sailing trip is a good idea. For example, Costa Rica has numerous inland rivers to … [Read more...]

Dizzying heights and Robot Wars in Dazzling Tokyo

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

Japan has always held a certain mystic for us in the western world. While it might be often be highly romaticised compared to the reality, Japan still holds many surprises, and you'll probably be surprised in ways you never expected. It cost the guts of €1200 for flights with BA  as we flew in high season around April/May it was totally worth it. From the moment I stepped foot in Narita airport in Tokyo, I fell in love with Japan and its … [Read more...]

Red Lion Inn is Your Quintessential Berkshire Getaway

March 30, 2018 by Steve Mirsky2 Comments

Classic New England villages in The Berkshires of western Massachusetts are typically defined by walk able centers with family run storefronts clustered around the library and post office flanked by towering gnarled centenarian maples & rugged foothills as a backdrop in the distance. Stockbridge is a post card example with the added distinction of having the Red Lion Inn anchoring the corner of Main and South Streets. Originally … [Read more...]

Top 3 San Diego Fishing Spots for First Time Visitors

March 23, 2018 by Teresa BonhamLeave a Comment

If you happen to visit the “birthplace of California”, make sure to head out and wet your line to get the real taste of this sunny metropolis. San Diego fishing is excellent for the better part of the year and the game fishing in the summer months is as fine as the city itself. From tuna, wahoo, halibut, and bass to amberjacks, there’s so much to catch here. You can chase bottom dwellers or head out to take on massive game fish – you name it, … [Read more...]

Visiting North Korea (not really)

March 20, 2018 by Dave11 Comments

During a recent visit to Yangon, Myanmar a friend of a friend working in the city informed us about a North Korean restaurant within a 10 minute drive of where we were staying (the Merchant Art Boutique Hotel). My only other experience with North Korea was in Dandong, China. An old military bridge (today called the Friendship Bridge) extends half way across the Yalu River. I was there in the middle of winter and I remember it was extremely … [Read more...]
