A Foodie Walking Tour: Oakland

January 3, 2014 by Preethi ChandrasekharLeave a Comment

I've never been on a foodie walking tour so when I found out about Localite Tours in Oakland, I jumped at the chance to be a part of their tour on a gorgeous Sunday in November. The tour was starting at 2pm so I decided to start my day off with brunch near the Mariott where I was staying for the weekend, as part of my press visit to Oakland. My husband was the one who actually suggested we try nearby Cock-a-Doodle cafe on Washington st. in … [Read more...]

A Bittersweet Roman Holiday

June 29, 2013 by Claudia Fabiano1 Comment

Rome: probably my favorite city on Earth, if I had to choose only one. Our time here was emotional and bittersweet, but Rome's beauty did what it could to try and ease the pain. We planned the last month of our round-the-world trip to be mostly a family affair. We saved Italy and Austria for last, because we thought it would be comforting to see some of my relatives after being on the road all year, and because it would be a smooth … [Read more...]

More from Sydney…

January 8, 2013 by Dave5 Comments

This time of year is an extremely pricey time to be in Sydney (Sydney is not a cheap city to travel in regardless of the time of year) - the New Years Eve fireworks over the opera house is watched by 1.5 billion people around the world and visitors from the rest of Australia and around the world come here to see this annual event. The harbor and streets are all closed to traffic during this time - and the choice viewing spots near the Opera house … [Read more...]

Betty White Rings in Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood!

December 9, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

This past Thursday we were invited to an event at Universal Studios - featuring long time actress Betty White (90 years young and looking great!). She was there to receive the "Who-Manitarian of the Year" award - a play on words tied into the holiday season and the Christmas Grinch. Besides being an accomplished actress, Ms. White has also dedicated her life to the welfare of animals. Her lifelong dedication to animal welfare has earned her … [Read more...]

Possible Himalayan Trek to Sikkim

November 27, 2012 by Dave2 Comments

I've been to India several times already; earlier this year I secured a 10 year multiple entry visa, for more exploring within this amazing country. We visited Chennai in July for my sister's wedding - as expected, the weather was hot and humid - frequent dips in the pool made the weather more bearable. It was nice to visit Southern India for the first time - although we were missing the mountains. A few years ago we got to experience the … [Read more...]

November 5, 2012 by Tiffany MullinsLeave a Comment

Many people travel to the Caribbean dreaming of pristine beaches and calm, endless turquoise waters. While you will certainly find both of those on your vacation, there's certainly much more to do than just lay on a beach towel and soak up the sun. Here is just a small sample of the experiences that will make your trip to the Caribbean absolutely unforgettable: Watersports, Watersports Everywhere If there's one thing the Caribbean has a lot … [Read more...]

Philadelphia: the City of Ghostly Love

October 30, 2012 by Marianne RuaneLeave a Comment

I was on my way to Philadelphia's Triumph Brewing Company to meet with my boss, Joe Wojie of Grim Philly Twilight Tours, and Laurie Hull, a paranormal investigator from Tri County Paranormal. We were going to discuss and map out the route to our Halloween tour, a hands-on historical ghost hunt. I had been waiting at my South Philly bus stop for over 40 minutes, alone. An older man, tall and skeletal, inappropriately dressed for the sweltering … [Read more...]

Step back in history in Savannah

October 5, 2012 by Phyllis SteinbergLeave a Comment

Time has stood still in Savannah with its 24 squares and picture perfect parks with homes dating to the 1700's when General James Oglethrope arrived here to build a colony in the name of England’s King George II. Oglethrope and with city planner, William Bull of South Carolina established the squares and reserved them as public parks among the neighborhoods. One of the homes along the squares Monterey Square is home to Congregation … [Read more...]
