How to keep money and documents while traveling

January 28, 2023 by Steve O'NeillLeave a Comment

No matter where you’re going – to the hot beaches of the south or the cool northern lakes – there are only two things you can’t do without. They are money and documents. Therefore, it is better to take care of their safety and security in advance so that then it is not painfully painful for the sabotaged vacation. In this article, a writer from paperhelp.org review service has gathered for you time-tested and experienced travelers tips that will help to ensure the maximum safety of your finances and documents abroad.

1. Back up everything
In life, as well as in digital technology, sometimes it is useful to think about backups in advance. So be sure to back up literally everything that’s important to you. To be sure, it’s better to make both actual paper photocopies that will be kept separate from the originals, such as in a suitcase, and a digital version of your documents uploaded to one of the cloud services (Dropbox, Google Drive, and so on). This will help you identify yourself in case you lose your documents and avoid additional problems.

2. Make a list of the phones you need
So let’s not rely on our memory and make a list of phones you can use. This list should definitely include contacts for the embassy in the country where you are going, emergency services, the phone numbers of your bank, and two or three closest relatives or friends. And, of course, as in the previous point, this list should exist both in paper form in your belongings and digitally – in a cloud service.

Keep your money in installments.
One of the main rules of the proper handling of money on the road is to divide it into several parts. Depending on the type of your trip, the specific advice may vary slightly, but the general idea is this – the main amount should be in the safest place (in a safe, in a hotel, in a suitcase), and you have in your pocket only money that is necessary for current expenses.

4. Use bank cards
Plastic cards are the most convenient and safest way to get cash and pay for goods and services in all countries except for very exotic and remote corners of the world. And in some cases, for example, if you arrive in the country late at night or if you need to pay a large sum of money, a card can help you avoid additional problems associated with cash.

5. Observe reasonable security measures
Never shine your fat wallet in crowded places. Use body bags, hidden pockets, and elaborate hiding places to store money, documents, and valuables, no matter how ridiculous it may seem to you. Be careful of new acquaintances, especially if you feel that it is purposefully imposed on you. In short, maintain a healthy skepticism and just be prudent.
