JetSet Extra Social Los Angeles

March 5, 2012 by Dave2 Comments

It is always fun to catch up with other LA Travel writers and the perfect venue for this was Union Station downtown at the Jet Set Extra social. I caught the metro from its furthest west side reach – Western & Wilshire so didn’t have to worry about traffic on this Oscar Awards night.

While the networking part of this event was obvious – the speaker’s panel was the highlight. Trends in social media were discussed. It was interesting to hear that shorter articles do better in search engines – perhaps, but over the years if an article contains information that people are really interested in, length has no relevance. Some of the most popular pages on my site are by far the longest. Followers on any social media platform are important – but the quality of followers is what counts and how engaged they are, not quantity.

It was nice to finally meet the LA based Tourism Authority of Thailand – a number of travel organizations and sponsored were represented.

Those on the panel included:

Amy Smith: smartypeople.com
Ashley Colburn: ashleycolburnproductions.com
Jeff Greif: TravelSquire.com
Johnny Jet: JohnnyJet.com
Lee Abbamonte leeabbamonte.com
Stacy Dreyfus: orchidworldwide.com
