If You Want Wisdom, Ditch College and Travel Instead

December 20, 2016 by Marinel de JesusLeave a Comment

I may be a hypocrite in saying what I’m about to say because I have four degrees under my belt and owe thousands of dollars in student loans. And maybe I’m just bitter as I write this because after over a decade of working at my decent paying career, I’m still significantly in debt. It almost feels as if the debt will erase me and not the other way around. Going to college and more so obtaining your graduate degree are both appealing on paper. … [Read more...]

She Becomes a Judge and I Become a Mountain Nomad

November 28, 2016 by Marinel de JesusLeave a Comment

As usual, I was in my office sipping my cup of soy latte when I heard screaming from a group of female colleagues down the hallway. Having been here at this office for 13 years, my first thought was, “Oh, someone just announced she’s engaged or having a baby.”  My legal office is full of female attorneys. Actually, a majority of them are females. I hit 40 this year. So, as you can see, I spent majority of my fertile years as a female in this work … [Read more...]

Going Solo: Reasons to do it… or Not

November 26, 2016 by Ariel2 Comments

Many of my travels have been solo throughout the years. I went around the country and even around the world all on my own starting at the age of 18. My parents hated it, my friends thought I was going to die, and everyone I met along the way acted like I was Amelia Earhart going on an impossible mission. Look at me! I’m alive and still travel solo! I love doing it, and I will continue to do it until the apocalypse... or I find my soul mate. … [Read more...]

Don’t Date a Girl Who Treks

October 9, 2016 by Marinel de Jesus3 Comments

She's the girl with the uneven tanned body Scorched skin from the rays of the sun from trekking the high passes. She's the girl with the high cut boots And a pair of trekking poles that she depends her life on She's the girl who catches the sunrise and sunset For either of them will suit her just fine. Don't date a girl who treks For this means you wake up at some ungodly hour and race your feet to the tops of the … [Read more...]

The Fantastic Five Destinations For Adventure Tours in Summer 2017

September 19, 2016 by Dave DronacharyaLeave a Comment

If you are thinking that the title of this article sounds a little familiar, you’re surely a marvel fan and will enjoy reading the rest of this blog. Traveling and travel writing has been more than just a profession for me. Exploring new places, immersing in a foreign culture, meeting new people, and taking up extreme adventure tours; all this completes me.   I like to do this the local way, as I feel that traveling like a local provides an … [Read more...]

How to Travel Without Selling EVERYTHING

How to Travel Without Selling EVERYTHING

It's a common belief that in order to set off on a long-term travel adventure, you need to sell EVERYTHING. And why wouldn't you think that when the "About Us" section of a number of travel blogs mention they sold everything to travel the world. Of course, while that may be a great way to make your dream a reality, I'm here to tell you that this is not you can travel without selling EVERYTHING! "NO NEED TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX, SIMPLY … [Read more...]

Introverted Travelling

September 1, 2016 by Kaine HarrisLeave a Comment

As I was wading the fetid swamp of high school adolescence, I didn’t have many friends. I was teased and, not being a large boy, pushed around occasionally. I was also fairly bright, though not necessarily the brightest, and I found fart jokes or pinging bras by the high school boys to be crass and mundane. The jokes I found funny either soared over the low brows of my peers, or possibly were completely devoid of humour. I prefer to believe the … [Read more...]

How to Eat Healthy on a Road Trip

August 28, 2016 by Tonya DenmarkLeave a Comment

Eat Heathly on a Road Trip

"Summer time and the livin' is easy," or so the lyrics go. Summer time usually means road trips and eating healthy on the road isn't always easy. I've come up with a few ways we like to eat healthy on a road trip that also saves you time and money. Side note: Can I just tell you I love driving versus flying? I know you can bring your own food (within reason) to the airport. But I much prefer to have a cooler full of my own food or be able to … [Read more...]

Four Unusual Travel Destinations Adventurer Horace Ashton Loved

August 8, 2016 by Libby AtwaterLeave a Comment

Horace Dade Ashton began exploring the world as a teenage cabin boy in the late nineteenth century. His love of the sea and the open ocean led him to explore many parts of the world when travel was difficult. He wrote about his travels, and I’m delighted to present excerpts from them to fellow adventurers. by Libby J. Atwater, coauthor of The Spirit of Villarosa and author of a What Lies Within HAITI Intrigued by what anthropologist … [Read more...]
