7 reasons to visit McLaren Vale

August 7, 2020 by Kavita PLeave a Comment

Every region of Australia offers something unique to tourists. One of the best places to visit in South Australia is the town of McLaren Vale. It has a number of attractions including some of the region’s oldest wineries and breweries along with breathtaking landscapes.

Here are seven reasons why you should plan your next trip to this beautiful town:

1. Fantastic Wine
McLaren Vale is the oldest wine-producing region in southern Australia. It is home to some of the oldest wineries in all of Australia. All of these wineries produce fine wine that you can enjoy while being in the midst of picturesque locations.

Most wine cellars offer fantastic ocean views or views of the lush rolling hills. The D’Arenberg Cube, a five-storey Rubik cube that seems to be floating over the vineyards is one of the most unique wineries here. Others include Hardy’s Tintara (the oldest one of the region), Wirra Wirra and so many more. Click here for 6 highly rated vineyards in Mclaren Vale.

2. The Shiraz Trail
The shiraz trail is about an eight-kilometer-long stretch of old railway tracks connecting McLaren Vale and Willunga. It is named after the signature Shiraz wine that can be found along the trail. You can either walk or cycle through the trail.

If you are up to it, there is even an option of riding a horse through the trail! You will be able to look at fantastic views and come across some great wineries that produce the Shiraz wine.

3. McLaren Vale makes the world’s best Grenache
Despite shiraz being the signature wine of McLaren Vale, it has become famous among wine lovers across the world because of the excellent Grenache produced here. McLaren Vale’s high altitude and sandy soil provide the optimum conditions to create one of the world’s best Grenache.

Another thing that makes it unique is the fine taste of tobacco, plum, mulberry, and spice flavors that is added to the Grenache.

4. Great Cultural Experience
In McLaren Vale, it’s not just about the wine and the landscape. It is a very old region with a rich history. And there are several locations in the town that you can visit to learn about it. In fact, there are several wineries, like the Hardys Tintara, that house a museum about the history of the winery. You can visit these museums to know about the individual history of the old wineries along with that of the entire town.

There are numerous art galleries that you can visit in the town to immerse yourself in the works of excellent local artists. Fleurieu Arthouse is one of the best locations to take a look at the local artists’ best works.

5. Excellent Food
Just like its wine, McLaren Vale also offers you some of the best food that you can get. From local produce to exquisite dishes, you can get a taste of everything in the numerous restaurants and eateries that are present in the town. All of these establishments offer a fantastic view. So, you will be able to enjoy the landscape while you are satisfying your appetite.

Besides that, there is also a weekly farmer’s market on Sunday where more than 80 farmers bring their fresh produce ranging from various cheese to olive oil and vegetables.

6. The Helivista Tour
As mentioned already, McLaren Vale offers you some of the most beautiful views in all of Australia. The Helivista toys is a popular tourist attraction. It offers you a bird’s eye view of the beautiful lush rolling hills, the coastal cliffs, beaches, and the ocean.

You will also get the option to go for winery hopping and being picked up from one of the several accommodations in the town.

7. It’s Very Accessible
McLaren Vale is very accessible from other parts of Australia. In fact, it lies just about just thirty-three kilometers from Adelaide Town. It will take you around 45 minutes to reach the town from Adelaide. There are several airports near the town so you can easily take a flight and then hire a cab to get to the town.

Your visit to McLaren Vale will be a highly satisfying tour and there are hardly any other locations in the world that can offer you so many things to enjoy.
