Bold Colors are Gearing Up on Virginia’s Creeper Trail

December 17, 2018 by Sarah C Miller5 Comments

A helicopter pilot by trade, my favorite way to take in the fall foliage for years has been to cruise around on a sunny day at about five hundred feet when colors are at their peak.  It was my favorite - until I rode a bicycle down Virginia’s Creeper Trail in autumn.  Sure, the more vertically challenged can still get great expansive views by driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline Drive.  Still, there is just something about being in the … [Read more...]

Vanessa Pirotta, Whale Researcher

December 16, 2018 by Dave2 Comments

I first stumbled across Vanessa Pirotta's fascinating work involving whales through Twitter. She is an Australian based wild life conservationist working with cetaceans (a word that refers to whales, dolphins and porpoises). Her investigative work has led her to locations around the world collecting various data. She is most known for her research in collecting whale snot through the use of a customized collection system carried by drones. She is … [Read more...]

Exploring Two Iconic Cities, New York and San Francisco

December 14, 2018 by Dave3 Comments

Located on opposite ends of the coast, both New York and San Francisco offer a rich variety of experiences and activities on but for different reasons. New York is an older city and certainly much larger often overwhelming for first time visitors which is why signing up for New York Tours is a good idea. They sell all new York attractions, Hop on Hop off Bus tickets, other activities and combination experiences. New York City offers great … [Read more...]

As we travelers and adventurers get older, our bodies no longer let us do everything that we once did. Our stamina declines, our knees get weaker, and we start to suffer ailments that we knew nothing about in our younger years. But our quest for adventure doesn’t go away. So many of us older travelers get frustrated that we can’t do everything that we would like to do. Trekking to Everest base camp or expeditions to Patagonia start to become … [Read more...]

Evolution of the Smartwatch

December 8, 2018 by Suzanne ELeave a Comment

Travel involves lists. Lots and lots of lists. Whether you plan your itinerary in your head, on paper, or on a smart phone or laptop, any well-seasoned traveller knows that when you’re not enjoying the sights and sounds of your latest destination, you will be making a list and checking it twice. Tickets, luggage, hotel bookings, flight times, important phone numbers, trip details … when you commit to travel plans, there’s a list waiting around … [Read more...]

How to Avoid a Car Hire Horror Story Abroad

December 8, 2018 by Suzanne ELeave a Comment

Travel represents an escape. Something different, dangerous, and romantic. That’s why we all love seeing the photos and reading the blog posts. We imagine ourselves right there, seeing it for ourselves. The colour of India. The charm of Paris. The tree tops and swinging jungle life of Borneo. Beats the grey suits of the Monday morning board room, don’t you think? Of course, that one perfect selfie with circling Tiger sharks in the Gulf of … [Read more...]

The End of the Road: “I’ve finally made it around the world.”

December 8, 2018 by Pete Martin2 Comments

I’m tired this morning. It feels like the end of a very long journey. I sleep in, listening to the sounds of Parisian life outside my hotel. While it will be the end of this journey around the world with the last leg from Paris back to Frankfurt tomorrow, perhaps it’s the start of something else. I want to believe that my days of living and working with people who do not share my values are over (or at least I will be conscious of the … [Read more...]
