Hanging out in Narita Japan

June 29, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

Woke up this morning on some straw mat in a room I had never seen before. This was fine as I'm used to sleeping on hard surfaces. The confusion became clearer as the fog lifted from the sleep deprived mind and I vaguely remembered landing in Narita, Japan last night. The drive to this guesthouse was a blur - but I do remember the driver turning off his engine at every stop light, turning off his lights every time he stopped and driving with both … [Read more...]

West Edmonton Mall, North America's largest covered shopping and entertainment centre and Alberta's number one tourist attraction draws some 31 million annual visitors. In this gigantic structure tourists and locals alike can take their families to an amusement park, skate in a large-sized skating rink, play a round of golf on a miniature golf course, and shop and eat in the more than 800 stores and restaurants - and do this all under one roof. … [Read more...]

Guest Post: Travel Business Cards – Why You Need Business Cards in Your Travels

June 27, 2012 by Dave3 Comments

The most obvious reason why you’re travelling is that you probably want to move away from the city, from the stress, and from your work. Sometimes it’s the adventure that takes us places, but how often do we forget the duties and work we’ve left behind? Well, there’s nothing better than the relaxing waves of the sea, the splendid breeze of the ocean, and a glass of an ice-cold cocktail while basking under the sun. Amidst the R&R we’re doing, … [Read more...]

Madrid in the Summer! Here we go!

June 26, 2012 by Hans BeltranLeave a Comment

The climate in Madrid is moderate during the summer month. Temperatures range from 21 C ( 70 F) to 31 C (88 F). It is rarely humid, but can get exceptionally hot on occasion. Rain is rare during the summer months, happening usually only twice per month, and those are normally only a passing thunderstorm. All of this combines to make the climate in Madrid favorable to outdoor celebrations of all kinds. When using vacation apartments in Madrid, … [Read more...]

The Halong Bay Monster

June 25, 2012 by John Edwards1 Comment

Like Scotland's Loch Ness Monster, Vietnam has its very own sea serpent legend-one which resembles a prehistoric escapee from "Here There Be Dragons" on the edges of Age of Exploration mappa mundi. Trapped in lovely Ha Long Bay ("Where the Dragon Descends into the Sea"), "The Tarasque" is not only a version of Nessie but purportedly just as camera-shy. Featured in the 1997 James Bond film "Tomorrow Never Knows," Ha Long Bay is now a UNESCO … [Read more...]

Where is the Ho Chi Minh Trail?

June 24, 2012 by Lisa Ellen NiverLeave a Comment

Disoriented is a term that means being lost or unclear about where you are. It originated from when the East or the Orient was considered the center of the world. If you have lost the orient you are dis-oriented and are not sure of where you are. From a young age, I have been oriented to travel from when my family moved to Georgia when my dad was in the army or moving to California as a young child or my many years of living at sea. Parts of the … [Read more...]

Family Holidays in Alcudia

June 22, 2012 by TomLeave a Comment

Colonized in the past by Phoenicians, ancient Greeks and Romans, historic Alcudia on Mallorca's rugged north coast, is anything but a one dimensional diet of sun, sea and sand. That said, the main beach at Puerto Alcudia is quite rightly lauded for its serene beauty and is the primary reason for its enduring popularity with young families. Alcudia is essentially made up of three distinct areas; Alcudia old town is some two kilometres inland while … [Read more...]

Researching Budget Hotels, Chennai India

June 22, 2012 by Dave1 Comment

Looking for budget hotels in India is always so entertaining. For $6 dollars a night we found a hotel that boasts, "bucket showers (for hot water), a "no Indian policy" and squat toilets". Really, all strong selling points??? Here's another line: "each and every single room at our hotel exotic epitomizes luxury and the grandeur of Indian culture juxtaposed with modern amenities" - this is set on a background image of some guy in a tuxedo! … [Read more...]
