Mammoth, CA – Restaurants

by Dave · Leave a Comment

On the whole, we find the restaurants in Mammoth to be quite expensive and the food generally average. This is not to say that there aren't some good restaurants - and the food scene has generally improved in the past 10 or so years. Pick up a copy of Mammoth Menus, which is available at Vons or at some of the restaurants. This is a very informative guide to dining in the Mammoth area. Menus and prices are included. Prices subject to change … [Read more...]

Mahogany Smoked Meats is located on the north side of the 395, (2345 Sierra Highway) as you head north on the outskirts of town. Not a chili dippin' operation - Mahogany has some serious selection and history behind the shop. Originally founded in 1922 the store carries a large variety of various flavors of smoked venison as well as other smoked meats.   Originally called Meadow Farms Country store - it used to be home to a church, a … [Read more...]

For a town its size there are a proportionately large number of hotels (and certainly many more hotels then some of its smaller town neighbors in both the north and south). Most offer free Wi-Fi and many are fisherman friendly (offering fish cleaning facilities). Unless otherwise noted all prices range from 1 person/1 room/1 bed to 2 person/1 room/2 beds. All ratings if available are listed with each hotel. Prices are subject to change … [Read more...]

Aaron Schat's Roadhouse is located at 871 N Main St in downtown Bishop. Another one of a surprisingly number of restaurants in this part of the Eastern Sierra carrying the last name of Schat. Just up the street from the famous Erick Schat's Bakkery.   Offers a variety of high quality dishes including gourmet burgers, rotisserie chicken, and slow-smoked ribs. A woodsy interior offers plenty of indoor seating overlooking Main Street. For … [Read more...]

Key West, FL – Restaurants

To begin this section I would like to offer one of the more popular recipes for Key Lime Pie. This well-known pie is a specialty dessert of the Florida Keys. This particular recipe was taken from Key Kookin by the late great Glad Whitley. Ingredients: 4 eggs (separated) 1 cup sugar 1 tablespoon sugar 1 tablespoon gelatin (in 1/2 cup ice water) 1 half cup Key lime juice 1 half teaspoon salt Beat egg yolks until thick, add 1/2 cup … [Read more...]

Caldwell Park Named after a prominent Redding attorney, Claude Caldwell. Features 73 acres with many activities for all ages. During the hot summer months the aquatic park is highly popular - (especially the tall water slide). Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Also offers a skate park and a bike park for children. But perhaps one of the park's most appealing features is it's proximity to the Sacramento River and access to the Sacramento … [Read more...]

There are many small restaurants in Colima, of varying quality. Many of the cafes and small restaurants are located in or next to the main plaza. La Arabica is located at Guerrero 162 near the corner of Obregon street. This small coffee house … [Read more...]

Lily's Mt Shasta, is one of our favorite restaurants in town; we have eaten here numerous times. Located at 1013 S. Lilys also serves Lunch, Dinner and they do catering. This restaurant is Dave's "post climb" tradition and will never be missed after coming off the mountain. They are open 7 … [Read more...]
