German food in Berlin

February 29, 2012 by Hans BeltranLeave a Comment

As Berlin is a multicultural capital, its food has many foreign influences; flavors from Turkey, India, Russia, Czech Republic and Poland are combined with the traditional German essence to make a delicious melting pot of flavors. However, despite the international influences, it is still possible to differentiate the most authentic flavors of the German cuisine. You have been roaming around the city for couple of hours and wonder, why do … [Read more...]

A Perfect Day in Santa Fe

February 22, 2012 by Juliet White, The Lost BackpackLeave a Comment

When people think of Santa Fe, they usually conjure up images of adobe buildings or art. The city is also extremely old, as Santa Fe was founded thirteen years before the Pilgrims made it to Plymouth Rock. If you only have one day to visit, here's how to … [Read more...]

Visiting Narita and Tokyo

January 29, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

Narita Airport is a major hub airport for both Japan and all of the Asian Pacific rim. Hundreds of flights arrive and depart daily. We have flown here a number of times and on long layovers enjoy visiting both nearby Narita and the Tokyo metropolitan region. The airport itself has two major terminals (1 and 2) and a bus provides transportation between each one. The airport is modern, has free WiFi in a number of selected WiFi stations and for … [Read more...]

The Currywurst. A True Berlin Institution

January 17, 2012 by MaikeLeave a Comment

I would lie if I would claim that I would find this a little odd, but the German cuisine is internationally widely known for its sausages. The Germans have many different kinds of it. Enjoying downtown Napa

December 8, 2011 by DaveLeave a Comment

We spent the evening enjoying two fine Napa restaurants. Usually I'm perfectly satisfied with one meal but on this one evening we opted for two full course dinners at two different restaurants! First we popped into the new restaurant Charlie Palmer Steak at the Archer hotel but didn't eat anything. We then hit up Eiko's on 1st Street, downtown Napa. This is a restaurant that specializes in authentic Japanese cuisine including seasonal dishes … [Read more...]

Spotlight on Raleigh North Carolina

November 6, 2011 by Dave3 Comments

Raleigh, the capital city of North Carolina is named after Sir Walter Raleigh - despite his never setting foot in the city. However he did encourage the settlement of North Carolina and established the first British colony in North America on North Carolina's Roanoke Island. Raleigh is one of the few planned cities in the USA and was also created specifically to be the state's capital. It was planned in 1788 and officially established in … [Read more...]
