…A Quick Injection of Vitamin D

April 15, 2011 by Ivona SiniarskaLeave a Comment

We all have those moments in life, myself more frequently during the winter months, during which we just want to leave everything behind and run away or hide to clear our heads. Last week I did just that... Cabin in Tulum to which I have frequently run away to I have never been one of those people who can run a hot bath, soak and be magically refreshed and focused for the following week of my life - simply not me. I was always a shower … [Read more...]

Walking the Walk in NYC

April 14, 2011 by Catherine SweeneyLeave a Comment

On a recent visit to New York City, I followed in the footsteps of immigrants, celebrities, and George Washington by taking a fun, educational and free walking tour provided by NYC by Foot. Their "Historic District" tour began at Spring Street and 6th Avenue, conveniently across from the subway station. The two hour walk covered about 1.2 miles of Soho, Chinatown and Little Italy - an area that includes part of the historic Five Points District. … [Read more...]

Wales: The Quiet Kid in the Corner

April 6, 2011 by Roni WeissLeave a Comment

One of my pet travel projects is understanding "minority nations", the countries within countries. The UK has that in droves: Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and arguably, England itself. The thing is, I really could not find a distinction between Welsh culture and British culture at large. Sure, there's a language that they have that looks like anagrams or txtspk, but beyond that, what makes someone uniquely Welsh? Certainly not the pubs … [Read more...]

The Two Sides of Marrakech

March 29, 2011 by Miss MociLeave a Comment

Since the situation in Libya and other Arabic countries remains tense and we are all hoping for a more peaceful resolution of the conflicts, I would like to do follow-up on my post from last week and talk about the city of Marrakech, Morocco. Staying in one of the apartments in Marrakech you will come to find that the city can be divided into 2 very different parts: The Medina, the historical old part of the city and the Gueliz or Ville Nouvelle, … [Read more...]

“L’Orient des Femmes” in Paris

March 22, 2011 by Miss MociLeave a Comment

It is not a secret that Paris is one of the world's fashion capitals, arguably the original fashion capital. The most powerful designers, couture houses and fashion magazines have their origin in the City of Light. If you recently rented apartments in Paris you might have had the chance to get a glimpse of the glamour of this year's Paris Fashion Week. This year's edition shook up the scene quite little bit. But what made the biggest … [Read more...]

LA Gangland Tours

March 21, 2011 by Dave4 Comments

I'll be writing a much more detailed story about this at some point because this is a great story. I had the opportunity to join one of the LA Gangland Tours. This unique organization is not glorifying gang violence and activities rather they are humanizing it, raising awareness, and raising money to work with kids before they get sucked into this "culture" as well as other preventative measures against the gangs. Its touching to see rival … [Read more...]
