July 19, 2014 by Krystal ELeave a Comment

England is a great destination for the whole family. The intricacies of English culture are many and the history of the British Isles in general date back past the Romans. For Americans or Canadians worried about traveling abroad with the family England provides just enough familiarity to feel safe, while having enough culture and history to feel completely new and leave the whole family curious and excited at every turn. England is a great … [Read more...]

Helsinki, Finland – a Quick Introduction

July 10, 2014 by DaveLeave a Comment

With approximately 600,000 inhabitants Helsinki and the surroundings comprises about a fifth of the countries' entire population. It is an International destination yet not large enough of a city to feel overwhelming; it retains a feel of a much smaller community and is fairly easy to get around with a well developed system of tram cars. During a recent visit a mix of using the tram cars and exploring on foot was the perfect recipe for getting to … [Read more...]

Exploring Kangaroo Island, South Australia

July 1, 2014 by Dave2 Comments

Kangaroo Island was originally uninhabited until an Englishman, Matthew Flinders "discovered" the island in 1802. Today about thirty percent of the island is preserved either as a National Park or wilderness area - and only about 4000 people live here. Most of the population is on the Eastern side of the Island. This is Australia's third largest island and is located about 3 hours from Adelaide - 2 hours by road and then 45 minutes on the primary … [Read more...]

This luxury resort is located in the middle of the bush on the edge of the great Chobe National Park. The lodge is perched on the edge of a steep plateau and features eight well appointed suites - each with excellent views overlooking the Namibian plains far below. Top #epicOZ experiences

June 4, 2014 by Dave2 Comments

Australia is a country that begs to be explored - not quickly but slowly over a number of months. In the absence of such time, shorter trips are fine but focusing on a specific part of the country rather than trying to see to much. The distances are great and the experiences diverse. So to is the culture, the weather and the natural landscape. After a number of trips to the country I've spent some time coming up with some of my most epic … [Read more...]

Exploring near Khao Yai National Park, Thailand

May 11, 2014 by Dave5 Comments

Our winemaker friend was in town, visiting from the Napa Valley in California. Immediately we thought of taking him to the Khao Yai Wine Trail - which features a number of wineries located near this National Park. Our destination was Granmonte Vineyards an established winery in Asoke Valley - about 3 hours from where we live. Along with the winery, they also run the Vincotto Restaurant (delicious Mediterranean cuisine) and a guesthouse. The … [Read more...]
