Halifax’s Historic Halliburton House Inn

April 7, 2015 by Ariane ColenbranderLeave a Comment

Halliburton House Inn signage, Halifax

From my ground-floor queen bedroom, I can hear the early evening final calls of the birds outside in the trees. Such a blissful moment, particularly after a late afternoon spring shower. We’re checked in at The Halliburton House Inn for a night, and I’m happy with everything in this room, from the cozy bed to the period furniture and fireplace. A coffee maker sits on the desk in a corner. A wing-back chair will serve as the perfect spot to … [Read more...]

Star Searching, Celebrity House Spotting with Starline Tours, Hollywood

March 25, 2015 by DaveLeave a Comment

What better time to take a Starline guided tour of Hollywood and hunt for celebrity homes and celebrities than during the Academy Award weekend. Hollywood's epic event attracts a number of celebrities to town, parties and those looking to see celebrities. Sure Hollywood is more chaotic then usual - with part of Hollywood Blvd shut down in the vicinity of Dolby Theatre and the buzz about the event by most everyone who happens to be in the … [Read more...]

The Audacious Promises of Sustainable Tourism

March 4, 2015 by Jamon MokLeave a Comment

The audacious promises of sustainable tourism The promise that was never lived up to Don’t we all wish we could do more good while having the time of our lives travelling? Years ago, when I was still a student, a big part of my travel memories were filled with little children tugging at my jeans for a donation, the homeless out on the streets or seeing the local people do amazing crafts but only finding out after that they are extremely … [Read more...]

Riviera Cancun: Secrets Silversands Resort

Secrets Silversands Resort

Looking at numerous websites, Trip Advisor reviews, and tips from friends, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to picking a travel destination and resort. My husband and I wanted to visit the Riviera Maya this month, in a location away from the thumping of Cancun or Playa del Carmen. What we found was Puerto Morelos, a smaller town smack in between the two, yet close enough to get to the Mayan ruins while enjoying the warm, tropical breezes of … [Read more...]

Visit Prague: the City of a Hundred Spires

February 20, 2015 by Egle ALeave a Comment

Sometimes described as the City of a Hundred Spires, Prague has to be one of the most beautiful and fascinating destinations in Europe. Since the Middle Ages, it has attracted visitors from near and far. Easily the equal of Paris in terms of its history and architecture, the city has roots dating back as far as the Iron Age. Since then, this settlement on the bend of the Vltava has been home to Habsburg colonists, German militants, Soviets and … [Read more...]

February 17, 2015 by Naomi Dalton2 Comments

Many travellers will arrive in Bogota with the intention of  staying for a couple of days before moving onto somewhere else... Cartagena, Santa Marta, the Coffee Region. So in case you happen to be spending just 48 hours in Bogota (let's say a weekend) here’s a suggested itinerary (with alternatives suggested in the event of rain!): Saturday 8.00am: It’s Saturday morning and chances are you’re staying near the historical part of Bogota (the … [Read more...]

A Day in the heavenly city of Suzhou

February 8, 2015 by Yoni PasswellLeave a Comment

Above there is heaven below there are Suzhou and Hangzhou goes the famous quote, I haven’t been above yet, but they did a great job below. Suzhou is a monument to China’s amazing growth and modernization, the new areas of the city display some of the best city engineering there is, with modern architecture, wide streets and beautiful gardens all around. While the old sections have been preserved and restored to serve as first class tourist & … [Read more...]

Traveller Information For Visiting Kauai, Hawaii

February 6, 2015 by Lauren H.Leave a Comment

Kauai is an idyllic and fascinating Hawaiian island which looks remarkably untouched, despite being a favourite with US tourists and also home to over 62,000 people. Part of the island's natural looking charm can be attributed to the rule that no buildings can be erected on Kauai that are taller than a coconut tree, so the luxury hotels, shops, homes and other buildings are never tall enough to spoil the view, with tourist accommodation taking … [Read more...]

Exploring Tel Aviv, Israel

February 6, 2015 by Dave5 Comments

After a packed 10 days in Qatar and Bahrain I flew over to Israel to meet my brother who was flying in from Italy where he lives. I was initially concerned about coming from Arabic countries straight away to Israel and also receiving an Israeli stamp. In actuality Israel no longer seems to stamp passports, rather they give you a printed ID card which they check when you leave the country. After 10 minutes of solid grilling with random questions, … [Read more...]
