May 6, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

Since we're already into May, summer is right around the corner, and summer in Europe officially (kind of) means festivals. The village of Beli Iskar is approximately an hour from the capital Sofia and located only a short distance from Borovets the oldest ski resort. Its appeal as a holiday destination exceeds not only the obvious winter attraction of snow sports. Although it is this that Bulgaria's mountain resorts are renowned for the activities available during the summer months are equally attractive and diverse. Sofia offers a range of interesting museums and … [Read more...]

A Safari through Cuba’s Wilderness Island

December 13, 2008 by Habeeb SalloumLeave a Comment

I felt content as our catamaran gently sailed through the gentle waters of Bahia de Nipes on our way to Cayo Saeta, located 120 km (75 mi) southeast city of Holguin in eastern Cuba. The bar on the catamaran was open and everyone in our group with drinks in their hands was enjoying the massage of the soothing breeze. We lazed in this glorious do-nothing atmosphere, thinking of the day we would soon spend on a pristine island, literally … [Read more...]

Dubai – A Piece of The Pie

March 9, 2008 by DaveLeave a Comment

The following is taken from Dave's Journal regarding a long weekend spent in Dubai I took a quick trip up to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates 3 weeks ago in the midst of the annual Shopping Festival. Thirty years ago this was a local regional city. Today its an international nightmare, depending on your perspective. Perhaps it is a city that will cause you to have a strong visceral reaction. Lots of craziness with the terrible traffic, … [Read more...]

Greetings from Peru!!

June 8, 2007 by DaveLeave a Comment

Arrived in Lima and rested all day which was good. Saw the catacombs underground in the 16th century St Francis of Assisi Monastery. Many skulls staring upwards with individual bones all separated and arranged nicely in neat orderly piles. Took bus overnight to C. Huayash - the pass was about 14,000 feet which we hit at 1am. I was in bad shape by then - arrived at 6am into town and immediately found hostel and crashed. For 2 days was … [Read more...]
