Carthage, Sidi Bou Said and a Crazy Taxi Driver

December 18, 2015 by Dave2 Comments

Today we left Tunis in search of some urban relief which we found in the much smaller communities of Carthage, Sidi Bou Said and La Marsa. Our first stop was the UNESCO World Heritage site of Carthage - originally settled in 814 BC and at one time it supposedly rivaled Alexandria for being the largest city in the Roman Empire. We visited the old baths - there is not much left here but some of the archways and columns have been restored. The … [Read more...]

What is The Weather Like in Hawaii?

September 19, 2015 by Jamin Tom2 Comments

The climate in Hawaii is atypical based on it's particular tropical location. Because of the vastness of water surrounding the archipelago, which is the furthest such island collection from any continent landmass in the world - the climate is rather subtropical. Hawaii experiences two seasons whose extremes are tempered by the presence of the ocean. In summer, from May to September, the temperature rarely reaches 27 degrees Celsius; the record is … [Read more...]

Ever Considered Sailing in the BVI?

August 11, 2015 by Dave BeanLeave a Comment

What is a holiday of a lifetime? We have all heard this claim at one time or another... but in our neck of the woods we hear it all the time. Things like "best ever...", "can't wait to do it again...", "at last we found paradise..." are just a few of the comments that have become synonymous with a sailing vacation in the British Virgin Islands. Surprisingly... many people don't know that such vacations are possible and many that are aware that … [Read more...]

Travel in Harry Potter’s Footsteps in Scotland

July 17, 2015 by Jessie VoigtsLeave a Comment

Do you love the Harry Potter books and movies? If you want more Harry Potter in your life, consider traveling to the locations where the Harry Potter movies were filmed. The movies were shot in the UK - in Britain and Scotland. There are tours where you can travel to the places, but remember that many of the scenes were shot in a studio, or are composites of several locations. When we were in Scotland, we visited all three of the Scottish … [Read more...]

An EDM fest in an Igloo? Add Igloofest 2016 to your list!

July 11, 2015 by Aly BergerLeave a Comment

How cool would it be to say you went to an EDM festival in an igloo? If that sounds like something you’d bundle up for, check out Igloofest in Montreal! I went this past January, and not only was it a blast, but visiting Montreal in January is a great bargain (and cold, but who cares when you’re drinking your jagermeister-root beer concoction!) As it so happens, I went with my mom; she was my travel buddy in Montreal. I had been dying … [Read more...]

Sandboarding in Israel

July 9, 2015 by Jacki Ueng2 Comments

When in the Swiss Alps, go skiing, when in the Himalayas climb a mountain, when in the Maldives go Scuba Diving. ... when in the Negev Desert, go Sandboarding!  I have always preferred the sun over the snow and as a result Israel has always been one of favorite destinations. When I was presented with an opportunity to Sandboard for the first time in my life I jumped at the opportunity. Wouldn't you?! Think of snowboarding on … [Read more...]

Winding our Way to Andorra La Vella

June 13, 2015 by Dave5 Comments

We arrived at the summit pass between France and Andorra and were greeted by thick fog. Opting to pay the €6 tunnel fee (rather than driving up over the ridge on the old very windy road) we were very surprised when we burst through the tunnel into brilliant blue skies and sunshine radiating all around us. A long valley lay below us with jagged still snow covered peaks surrounding. It was like going from a June Gloom Malibu California day where … [Read more...]
