Kuru Shoes

June 1, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

Kuru Shoes (Reviewed: Jun 2010)We recently wore a pair of these shoes on a trip to Hawaii. While being new these shoes hardly needed breaking in and wore wonderfully on hikes in the diverse microclimates of Maui. From running beachside on the edge of the surf to hiking at 10,000 feet on the upper slopes of Haleakala these shoes held up very well to the different rigors. Kuru shoes are lightweight, extremely comfortable, and very breathable … [Read more...]

Yosemite

by Dave · 10 Comments

The shoulder seasons (early spring, mid to late fall) are excellent times for visiting Yosemite National Park. The weather is a bit cooler than the heat of the summer (nights are chilly but days warm up nicely) and you are sure to miss the masses of crowds that converge on the valley floor during the mid summer. Not to be outdone is the winter season - Badger Pass Ski Area with its set of lifts, runs and an excellent ski school is found within … [Read more...]

September 1, 2009 by DaveLeave a Comment

Burj Khalifa (formerly Burj Dubai) UAE - This is the world's tallest building...by far! It towers above its closest rivals which are the Makkah Clock Royal Tower and the Makkah Clock Royal Tower in Saudi Arabia. When you stand close to its base and look up it is hard to believe humans can create something so tall. It is overwhelming. The building stands more than 800 meters tall over 2600 feet! It topped out at 160+ stories, and well you can do … [Read more...]

The village of Beli Iskar is approximately an hour from the capital Sofia and located only a short distance from Borovets the oldest ski resort. Its appeal as a holiday destination exceeds not only the obvious winter attraction of snow sports. Although it is this that Bulgaria's mountain resorts are renowned for the activities available during the summer months are equally attractive and diverse. Sofia offers a range of interesting museums and … [Read more...]

Dubai – A Piece of The Pie

March 9, 2008 by DaveLeave a Comment

The following is taken from Dave's Journal regarding a long weekend spent in Dubai I took a quick trip up to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates 3 weeks ago in the midst of the annual Shopping Festival. Thirty years ago this was a local regional city. Today its an international nightmare, depending on your perspective. Perhaps it is a city that will cause you to have a strong visceral reaction. Lots of craziness with the terrible traffic, … [Read more...]

Mount Benson Signature Mountain of Nanaimo

January 6, 2008 by Nanaimo Tourism BoardLeave a Comment

Magnificent Mount Benson is one of the scenic wonders of Nanaimo, British Columbia, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. Mount Benson is the city's backdrop rising 1,019 meters above the Strait of Georgia. The mountain's green forested slopes are favorites of hikers and wildlife, and there's a sweeping view of the Coastal Mountain Range across the water from the rocky summit. Unfortunately, this paradise is threatened. Forestry … [Read more...]
