The Midland in Manchester, Former Railway Hotel, Now City Spa

March 2, 2020 by Samantha PriestleyLeave a Comment

The Midland Hotel in Manchester, England, was built in 1903 to serve railway passengers from the then Manchester Central Station, situated behind the hotel. Although the station is now gone and the hotel has been much refurbished, it remains the oldest purpose-built hotel in the city. One look at its gothic exterior as you approach, and you know this is going to be something special. I took my daughter for a spa break at The Midland last week, … [Read more...]

Best Casino Resort in Las Vegas

February 12, 2020 by DaveLeave a Comment

My first trip to Vegas was a road trip with two friends. This trip did not start out very smoothly - after pulling out of my driveway I stopped for gas and one of my friends noticed one of the tires was nearly flat. In a hurry to get on the road in anticipation of 12 hours of driving, we quickly pumped it up and continued on our way. However it lost air pressure fairly quickly and every two hours or so we had to stop to pump up the tire. … [Read more...]

A Guide to Dubai and its Architectural Wonders

December 5, 2019 by James BaylissLeave a Comment

Dubai is the capital of the United Arab Emirates, but its significance goes far beyond the borders of its country. The city is a booming mercantile metropolis that operates as the business center of Western Asia, which has seen a "who's who" of global corporations set up for trade in Dubai. Dubai is not all about business; it is home to vast shopping districts and centers (including the gigantic Dubai Mall), as well as a range of eclectic tourist … [Read more...]

Cruise with Holland America Line ms Eurodam – December 2019

December 1, 2019 by Dave1 Comment

This spacious mid-sized ship can support a small town at times - with capacity for up to approximately 2,100 passengers and over 900 crew. While that is a lot of people the ship is sizable so that while on board it never feels to crowded (with perhaps at times the exception of the pool area on the top deck). The ship offers a wide variety of activities for the entire family, one will not be board when on board! Entertainment and music is a big … [Read more...]

A Journey to the Center of the Universe in Ashland, VA

November 26, 2019 by Stephanie Kalina-MetzgerLeave a Comment

I recently had the opportunity to travel to the far west end of Richmond, Virginia, to an area called Short Pump, so named for a pump that was located at a tavern built by Revolutionary War veteran Robert Hyde Saunders. The affluent area is a shopper's paradise, with shopping malls as far as the eye can see and the Hilton Richmond Short Pump Hotel & Spa, was a comfortable and convenient basecamp for exploring the small town of Ashland, located … [Read more...]
