A List of Important Places To Visit In Leh-Ladakh: The Land of High Passes

May 1, 2020 by Sushant Pandey1 Comment

Maitreya Buddha Nubra Valley

The valley of Ladakh is one of the most visited tourist destinations in India. The valley is famous for its pristine landscape and snow-capped mountains, and at the same time, it is one of the highest inhabited regions of the world. The Ladakh valley is blessed with two mountain ranges running through its boundaries, namely the Himalayan Mountain Range and the Karakoram Mountain Range. In the last decade, the area has seen a high influx of … [Read more...]

11 Things You Need to Know Before Visiting Iceland

April 26, 2020 by Karthik Nandula1 Comment

Our excitement, which had been building prior to our trip to Iceland, reached a crescendo after we landed. We immediately saw beautiful snow-covered mountains, contrasting in the harsh rain. Every mountain was white and the landscape was devoid of people. Over the next few weeks, these scenic destinations changed our definition of beauty and natural elegance. Here are the top 11 things you must know before visiting Iceland. 1) Plan your … [Read more...]

Brazilian Cachaça Trip, Day Three: Canela

April 20, 2020 by Peter Banks4 Comments

Gramado and Canela were two cities that I didn’t have much interest in visiting. I’d stayed in Gramado toward the end of 2018 with my family. It’s a town that is popular among Brazilians and notable for its effort to create a Northern-Hemisphere-Christmas-Atmosphere year-round, as well as its plethora of chocolate shops. Canela is a more relaxed cousin of Gramado, with a similar affinity for chocolate, without the Christmas spirit. I hadn’t … [Read more...]

Varese Ligure, Italy – April 2020

April 1, 2020 by Dave2 Comments

There are so many places in Italy that face the fire of International tourism - regions that boast inspirational natural beauty, charming villages and rich history. With extended coverage in guidebooks and a word of mouth that travels quickly when it comes to planning summer vacations - these places are often over-run with visitors. However there is a charming part of Italy that is not yet over over visited. About 30 minutes into the hills from … [Read more...]

10 Best Things to do in Jaisalmer: A Golden Oasis in the Thar Desert

March 14, 2020 by Abhinav GoelLeave a Comment

The westernmost tourist hot-spot in India, is the Golden City of Jaisalmer.  A majestic city with its citadel- the Golden Fort standing in the middle of the city, with each house crafted with yellow sandstone is nothing short of an oasis in the desert. The views of the mighty desert, the architecture of the marvelous Havelis, the vibrancy of the colorful markets and the culture of the historical city ensures an exalted experience for every … [Read more...]

Exploring the Island of Efate, Vanuatu

March 1, 2020 by Dave12 Comments

Circling the island of Efate by vehicle takes about 2 hours without stopping. I wanted a more in depth experience so I joined a small tour hosted by Atmosphere Tours, based in Port Vila. As we left Port Vila on the only road that circles the island (built by the Americans) our guide duly pointed out the last electrical pole some few clicks outside of the city. Beyond that, the villages do not have government provided electricity and if they have … [Read more...]

Blooming Where We’re Planted, and A Taste of Honey

November 30, 2019 by Sharon Nadja Zajdman2 Comments

We were a busload of older women off on a jaunt on a hot day in July. Departing from a Montreal seniors’ center, we rode off to Mirabel, located in the Lower Laurentian Hills. In less than an hour we arrived at Routes des Gerbes d”Angelica, a collection of 14 themed gardens which are the creation of 20 retirees who have invested their money and the rest of their lives, it seems, into creating and sustaining a sanctuary of natural beauty. Most of … [Read more...]

Art, Beauty, History, and Cuisine on the English Riviera

November 9, 2019 by Samantha PriestleyLeave a Comment

Along with my partner, I recently took a short trip down to the English Riviera where I found beauty, history, and the most incredible food! We were lucky with the weather, the sun shone the whole time we were there and the air was warm and balmy, but I imagine this place is almost as scenic when the weather isn’t as accommodating. This part of Devon is best known for Torquay, home of Faulty Towers, but we wanted something a little more off the … [Read more...]

Sunrise at the Grand Canyon

October 14, 2019 by Jacki UengLeave a Comment

As one might imagine, watching the sunrise at the Grand Canyon, a United Nations-dubbed World Heritage Site, is nothing short of amazing. Coming in at about 2,000 square miles, the Grand Canyon is truly massive. It’s so big, in fact, that watching the sunrise in one section of the canyon is oftentimes a completely different experience than watching it from another area. Why? The Grand Canyon has a huge variety of terrains and biomes. You can find … [Read more...]
